The Los Angeles-based artist and singer-songwriter Jeanine Del Carlo returns to touch on her many intriguing highlights of 2020.
Having her music added to several Spotify playlists, Jeanine Del Carlo kept her audience engaged and entertained throughout 2020 with help from her self-created dance videos and live stream performances. After performing live at The Dublin in Portland at the beginning of 2020, Jeanine Del Carlo later reached an 8th place spot in the Ms. Health & Fitness HERS Magazine Cover competition.
Also releasing three singles in 2020, Jeanine Del Carlo began the year with the feel-good song, "Can I Take Your Pain Away?" surrounding the warm feelings of requited love and easing someone's pain through tenderness. Following up this single with her hit, "SHAKIN'," Jeanine Del Carlo wrote this piece in ten minutes, fueling the song with emotion surrounding life's transformation after losing her father to cancer.
Ending off 2020 with her last single of the year, "Love U," Jeanine Del Carlo took us through another heartfelt story of loving someone as a whole while describing the song with a quote from Marianna Williamson, "Until we have seen someone's darkness, we don't really know who they are. Until we have forgiven someone's darkness, we don't really know what love is."
Also releasing two merch lines in 2020, Jeanine Del Carlo created the We Are The World t-shirt while donating all proceeds to those financially affected by Covid-19. Not to mention her whimsical Caticorn merch (cat/unicorn), Jeanine Del Carlo is ready to take 2021 by the horns with each unique endeavor and soulful release.
We're delighted to speak with you surrounding your many endeavors throughout 2020. Which achievement of 2020 are you most proud of?
The achievement I’m most proud of in 2020 is writing a new piano album which is unlike any album I’ve created in the past. I didn’t know I had a new album in the works until I looked at all the songs and went, “I’ve got a new album here that I love so much.”
It became a healing process for me to write down my feelings, thoughts, play my Dad’s piano, and connect with the instrument that he loved so much.
I feel like I’m with him when I play and sing on the piano. The songs I wrote all came from my heart and the lyrics came out so fast as if I couldn’t write fast enough.
With your three released singles in 2020, do you have a personal favorite?
Out of the three songs I released all of them are my favorite, lol. I love all of the songs equally because I recorded them all around the same time in the studio.
The time in the studio singing and putting the final touches on them felt magical. I love being in the recording studio. The studio gives love to the song-making process.
What inspired you to donate all proceeds from one of your merch lines to families affected by Covid-19?
I’ve lost so much of my family to disease that it only felt right with the image I had created of my family on the T-Shirt that says “We Are The World”, “Be The Change”, and “Peace, Love, & Music” that those are messages that I would hope give hope to people when they feel sad.
Did you experience any personal or musical growth throughout the unusual year of 2020?
I feel like I became connected to myself and nature. In my younger years, I didn’t stop moving all the time, it’s like I couldn’t sit still and breathe in the moments that went by so fast.
I found stillness this last year in learning to love and forgive myself. I let myself dance freely, write music freely, and create art on the piano as I mentioned before without my inner critic telling me blah, blah, blah. I used to have so much noise in my head and I feel this year I got to learn how to love all of me.
If you could take one thing away from 2020, what would it be?
If I could take away one thing from 2020 it would be that being outdoors with nature is the best medicine for anything. I believe we are made of the earth's elements and when we are in nature our souls connect with all that is around us, we feel loved.
How do you plan on keeping your audience engaged as you continue your career throughout 2021?
I plan on putting new singles, music videos, interviews, my “Love U” album with some new songs, and performing through streaming apps until I can perform live face to face.
Are you currently working on any projects or releases to drop in 2021?
I just released my first single of 2021 “You” on February 18th. It’s an R&B beat with a soul vibe. I wrote this song about humanity, how we are all made of the earth, and how love keeps us going in life. It’s about no one in particular but collectively as a society that sometimes we can lose sight of what’s important in life due to greed and not being satisfied when we’ve got everything. The people in your life that love you and you love are priceless. My second single “Faith” I wrote with a music producer who goes by the name on Twitter of @DjDownLowDavis will be out on March 4th, 2021. I love this song so much, the beat has an upbeat vibe and the lyrics will give you hope and strength in your own life. My goal is to give you one song a month for the rest of the year and some new music videos too. I love sharing my art with the world and am so thankful to be able to have the platforms to give my music a voice.
