Welcome to BuzzMusic, Adam Noviello. We love the smooth and moody atmosphere you've set in your recent single, "Another You." What was your source of inspiration for this emotional piece?
This song is actually a reunion story between two dear friends of mine. They had split up for a time, and one day my friend Nate said that he'd planned to meet up with Lorna. He was riddled with anxiety about what this meeting meant. Were they going to get back together? Would they know from seeing each other that they'd made the right decision?! We tried to encapsulate Nate's worries in the song, but also his deep love for Lorna. They are now happily married with three kids, and I am fortunate to call one of them my goddaughter!
What led you to branch out and explore moody alternative pop with "Another You?" Do you often explore different production stylings and sounds?
I am always looking to experiment with sounds and styles, I believe it's the beauty of being creative. My first single, 'Heretic', has such an anthemic dance floor energy, so I wanted to strip it back a little with the follow-up. It still has a vibe to it, but it was important to tell my audience that I can get real and open my heart. 'Another You' does that. It still lives very comfortably in my EP, but playing with these more alternative sounds and odd phrasing keeps it very fresh and unique.
What did you want the listener to pick up on or take away from "Another You?" What was your goal with this song?
First and foremost, I wanted to put out a lovely song that people vibe and connect with. Pure and simple. But I believe this story of first love and uncertainty in relationships is very universal, so hopefully, people feel themselves in the lyrics. It's a gorgeous moment of musical escapism, and I am so happy with how it's been received, having charted in the Top 10 on the iTunes Pop Chart. Not to brag!
How does "Another You" relate to the overall theme or concept within your debut EP, Tears, Drugs & Voicemails?
This is one of the few songs on the EP that fits into both the "Tears" and the "Drugs" categories! The overall concept of the EP is a collection of songs you can be sad to and songs you can party to. ''Another You" fits beautifully into the "Tears" category with its raw honesty and vulnerability, but also the 3 am low-fi alt-pop party vibes.
What's next for you?
If I told you, I'd be ruining the surprises! But since the release of 'Tears, Drugs & Voicemails,' we are looking at a new single or two, plus more LIVE shows. Stay tuned!
