EyeCandy Drops Catchy New Single “Dead Weight”

Residing in West Michigan, EyeCandy is a high energy alternative four-piece. Often compared to the likes of Emarosa and Paramore, EyeCandy blends catchy rhythms and poppy choruses with a direct IV from rock-n-roll. The four-piece act never fails to draw in a crowd with their tastefully catchy songs, along with the euphoric energy they give off during their shows. A self-proclaimed pop band with a punk attitude, EyeCandy brings a welcome addition to the contemporary pop/rock music scene.

EyeCandy’s newest single Dead Weight boasts retrospective lyricism, pummelling guitars, catchy melodic riffs, and heavy rhythmic drums. EyeCandy exudes an authentic chemistry that only comes from fine calibration and undeniable talent. “Dead Weight” weaves through storytelling elements while still remaining a contemporary pop/punk/rock track. Using music as an outlet for their emotive lyricism, EyeCandy establishes a solid foundation for their fans to relate to their songs. If it isn’t the hardcore rock n roll electric guitars or their gritty and downright dirty vocal resonance, it’s the witty and catchy lyricism coming together as an entire hit. “Dead Weight” is a welcome and addictive new addition to the music industry and I highly recommend you check it out and stay on the lookout for what EyeCandy delivers next!

Hey EyeCandy! Welcome to BuzzMusic! Can you start by introducing yourselves to us and telling us what you do within EyeCandy?

Hello BuzzMusic! Super excited to chat with you. I am C. T. and I am the frontman. I sing and jump around and I will be answering on behalf of the four of us. Caleb is an OG member, he has been with me since the birth of EyeCandy. He plays guitar and offers background vocals. Collin plays drums and Noah is our bassist.

How did EyeCandy come to fruition?

Well, it started as an acoustic solo thing i would do throughout high school. I just came up with the name one day and i liked it. In 2013, i recorded a few songs that i had been sitting on for a while. I gave up on trying to start a band and decided to play everything for the recordings. I didn't really do anything with the songs, I just wanted to have something to show for myself. But, in 2016, I rediscovered the songs and showed them to some friends of mine. And they all wanted to play these songs live. So, we got together and started jamming and EyeCandy was born, for real.

What are the lyrics in “Dead Weight” about? What do you hope your listeners take away from this track?

"Dead Weight" is about cutting ties with unhealthy people that break you down. It's about letting go of what is holding you back from who you could be. And I hope that anyone who listens to it is able to feel the aggression and the frustration. I hope they can feel the tension that I felt. Because it is hard going through the realization of the dead weight in your life. And when you need to let it go, sometimes aggression becomes courage. And that courage is a sign that you are bettering yourself, that you are mature enough to recognize what needs to change so you can grow. So, ultimately, when people hear this song I want them to feel brave enough to cut ties with what is tying them down and keeping them from the greatness ahead.

How have your musical influences inspired your sound?

For me, as a lyricist, I have been influenced by the honesty of bands like Beartooth. I try to convey my thoughts and feelings in a very transparent way, being completely open with what goes on in my head in the darkest moments. I think that if more people did that there would be less loneliness, depression and suicide. We are all in this together, you know? As far as musically, we definitely have our influences expressed throughout what we do. Bands like Paramore, PVRIS, and Emarosa inspire us and give us great role models of energy, branding, and band structure. While we do look to such greats as Red Hot Chili Peppers (for that hot bass) and AFI for good funk and rock vibes. Obviously these bands have been successful for decades, they must be doing it right.

What’s next for EyeCandy?

We went to the studio a few weeks back. Recorded a song. And we have been hard at work developing a release plan. And we are stoked. Get ready.
