Find Strength and Encouragement In “I Believe In You” by Laela Giovanna

Laela Giovanna is a singer-songwriter and producer born in the suburbs of Philadelphia who is working her way to the top. Beginning her career early on in her childhood, Laela was recording in the studio at the age of nine singing and playing piano. At twelve she picked up her first guitar which sparked her love for song writing and she was honing her live performing skills in her early teenage years at many music venues and cafes around the city. In 2013, Laela opened for the former duo “The Company of Thieves” and her soulful vocals add an alluring element to her music. “Growing up, my dad introduced me to R&B music at a young age. I think having that soulful inspiration early on inspired and molded me into the artist I am today.” Laela went on to perform at the legendary Apollo Theater in 2016 and in 2018 was recognized on the island of Ischia, Italy as an up and coming music artist in America and was awarded “Ambassador of the Island of Ischia, Italy” which also gave her honorary Italian citizenship. She continues to push her creative abilities to the next level and has a new single and EP on the way.

“I Believe In You” is a meaningful and powerful track that blends many different styles together into one master piece. Laela’s voice is hard to forget, as it has a very smooth, relaxed tone that is unique and she effortlessly hits every note. The harmonies that are found throughout “I Believe In You” complement Laela’s melodies perfectly, adding depth to this exciting track. The rap section, though short, emphasizes the creativity that Laela has when writing a song with a variety of genres mixed into one. The beats mixed with piano and the alluring sound of her voice create a well-blended classic R&B/Pop sound. “I Believe In You” has lyrics that hit home, on a personal level with lines like “I know that it’s tough, just gotta get tougher” and “You’re a work of art, better know it’s true, that I believe in you” that are uplifting and encouraging which in my opinion is something that in our current time more people need to hear – that they’re believed in. “I Believe In You” is going to be a hit R&B/Pop song and I highly suggest you add it to your daily playlist as you are sure to be hooked to the addicting sounds that radiate from this track.

Hey Laela! Love the new single! Can you tell us a bit more about yourself?

Thank you! I’m so happy you’re loving “I Believe in You”. A little bit about myself. I am a singer/songwriter & producer. I am also a student at Berklee College of Music. I grew up in an Italian family. My family is from Ischia, Italy. Fun Fact : Last summer I was awarded ambassadorship & honorary citizenship in my family’s hometown on the island.

Being an honorary citizen of Italy must be exciting! Have you taken any inspiration from the different types of music found in Italy and what other inspirations do you have for creating music?

It is an honor! I love visiting there and seeing my family & friends. Everyone is so supportive of my music. When I am there, I am able to draw so much inspiration for my music through the experiences. My song “See U Again” was inspired by someone I met on the island. I wrote it on the rooftop the night before I left. That is the beautiful thing about music, inspiration can come from anywhere.

What is the meaning behind “I Believe In You” and is there a message you were trying to deliver to your listeners?

I started writing it a while ago. The song kind of just sat in my collection for a while. There was a few months last year when I was going through a rough patch. I did not fully understand what was going on with me. I remember sitting down on the keyboard one night, playing this song and just crying. That’s when it hit me that I needed to finish the song and get it out into the world. I sent it to my producer friend Nick and the rest is history. It was important for me to create a song that my fans could listen to and feel empowered by. I wish I had this song when I was going through that rough patch. Now that it’s out in the world, I hope those who need to hear it will.

When creating new music what is the process like for you?

There is not one specific process I have . It changes depending on how I am feeling , who I am around , what I am going through, etc. Inspiration can strike at any time so I always travel with a notebook/pen and my voice memos . Once I am back in the studio or home, I will look through and listen to the ideas I have. Whatever lyrics/melodies pop out at me, that’s what I will start to build upon with my guitar or piano.

What can we expect to see next from you in 2019?

A lot of new content! I have some really exciting things in the works right now that I can’t really speak about just yet, so stayed tuned! I just want to say thank you to anyone who has been following my music journey. Thanks for sticking by me. You mean the world to me.
