Sydney-based pop artist Chelsea Valentine has just released her newest enchanting single “Wire”, showing listeners what she is all about.
Chelsea Valentine started off her musical journey as a DJ and then fell in love with songwriting during her recovery from an accident. Her first release was “Without You” in 2022, and she is back to share a second single with the world.
Chelsea Valentine’s “Wire” is an upbeat pop anthem that utilizes whimsical melodies and profound metaphors to highlight her expressive voice. “Wire” by Chelsea Valentine is extremely fast-paced, with a consistent beat that keeps the energy levels high.
Her soft-natured voice flows through the lyrics in a resilient way, accompanied by vocal echoes and layering that add dimension to the song. She displays her range with low-key verses and explosive choruses, altering the presence of strong instrumentation to fit the atmosphere of each part of the song. “Wire” utilizes many different synth sounds so there is always something new to appreciate at different levels of the song.
Filled with metaphors, “Wire” chants about losing control of a situation. Chelsea Valentine sings about the chaotic nature of budding love and how it can spin out of control, like a fire that has been left to burn. At its root, “Wire” is a buoyant depiction of a theme of disarray.
Don’t miss this second single from Chelsea Valentine, the enlightening “Wire” out now on all streaming platforms! From playful experimentation with sounds to deliberate and thoughtful songwriting, Chelsea Valentine is proving what she can do with her music.
Thanks for sharing your new song “Wire” with BuzzMusic, Chelsea Valentine! What has been your favorite part of the creation process for this song?
My favorite part of creating ‘Wire’ was getting to work with new people and working/writing with my friends as well. It was my first time working with Tristan Boston, who is the producer, and the first time I got to write and collaborate with 2 of my friends. In the beginning, I didn’t have plans to release the song as a single. There was no pressure on what to write or create, so the creative space was wide. As we continued to write and develop the song, I just loved it so much that I wanted to share and release it. I’m a huge lover of the 80’s and the 80’s sound, so I knew at some point that was something I wanted to experiment with, but you don’t always know if that’s going to suit you and your project.
What do you hope that listeners take away from “Wire” upon first listen?
I hope this song makes listeners want to dance. Some of my favorite 80’s tracks – Everybody Wants To Rule the World by Tears for Fears, Tainted Love by Soft Cell, I’m Still Standing by Elton John are just a few of my favorite songs that make me want to dance. I think as a songwriter and artist, it is one of the biggest compliments if someone wants to dance to your song.
How has your experience been as a new pop artist trying to prove your worth? What has been your biggest challenge so far?
I think overall, I have had a pretty great experience so far. I have got to meet, both in person and virtually, some pretty amazing artists, songwriters, producers, and other people in the industry. I think that was one of the benefits of 2020. I have been able to meet people that I may not have ever had the chance to do, but because of online workshops and such being available during the lockdowns - there was this chance to connect to a community I hadn’t had before. This is definitely one of my favorite things about being a songwriter and artist is getting to meet other creatives and hearing their story and what they do.
I think a big challenge for me is the social media side. There are a lot of pros and cons to it. I do love using social media, but if you’re an overthinker like me, there are times when it can take a toll on your mental health and can consume the world you create around you. It can be a tiring experience fighting against this and creating those boundaries. Another big challenge for me is learning to trust myself and do things that I love, and that I’m proud of.
How did your career as a DJ change your views on music? How do you incorporate this into your own songs?
There are so many different types of music in the world, and you will never be able to listen to it all at once, but it’s important to keep an open mind even if you don’t love it. All music is important and plays a role. When I was Djing, it was important to play top 40 or whatever the biggest hit of the day was, but it is also equally important to read the room and find music that would suit the mood and keep the audience’s energy up without burning them out. Also, when someone is drunk enough, they will dance to anything, haha.
What's next for you?
Working on the release for Wire, which has been really fun. I’m also working on some collaborations and getting a live show-up and running. Also releasing another single or 2 towards the end of this year and going into 2023!
