Get “Fuxced Up” With the Wordplay Of YungRep

Los Angeles native YungRep cements his musicianship with his ability to create vivid imagery through wordplay.

He attributes his musical inspiration to Biggie Smalls, Tupac, A Tribe Called Quest, Ice Cube, Kendrick Lamar, Nas, Anita Baker, and The Isley Brothers. Holding the belief that for us to change our world, we must start with ourselves, which keeps him striving for change for our generation and future generations.

With this release of his self-reflective album, "To The Moon," YungRep takes the chance to encompass himself as an artist and creatively. Embracing themes of love, change, and positivity centred around organic self-expression, this collection of songs is a bold step forward for an emerging artist.

As we take our attention to the lead single, "Fuxced Up," we immediately notice the old-school glimmers of nostalgia that sizzle through the soundwaves. YungRep's lyrical performance is laidback and the embodiment of effortless talent. As he professes witty lyrics one after another, you sway to the groove of his rhythmic cadences and latch onto each word he magnetically conveys.

This PudgeBeats collaboration is a match made in heaven as we're fixated on the lulling instrumentation rich in slick drum patterns and familiar samples, further boosting the hazy atmosphere reflected. YungRep finesses the beat by laying down enticing wording that has you immersed in the bars he's rapping, yet at the same time, they're performed with such confidence and grace that you don't even question this is his calling.

Sending our mind to all the right places, "Fuxced Up" is an easy addition to your favorite playlist as YungRep ups the ante and gives listeners a new flavor to simmer in their headphones.

Welcome to BuzzMusic, YungRep! We loved taking in the laid-back ambiance of "Fuxced Up." What moment or story inspired the creation of this track?

"Fuxced Up" is a song inspired by many moments; in all honesty, but one particular moment is a night I performed at an event where the reception to my music and performance was overly optimistic, and I had a moment of realization. I realized that hard work and genuine love for something fully pay off when you are consistent and persistent. Just give it to the people, and the rest will occur.

You have this undeniable confidence you perform with, enhancing your music's relaxed energy. What moods do you tend to strive for when creating music? What helps you get in this headspace for creation?

I'm always striving to be in a relaxed space. Mary J and a smooth beat, and iim good, lol, but I write when im in a suitable mind space. I wrote "Fuxced Up" while sitting in my car during my overnight shift. The beat is the only thing I need in reality. The beat takes me away, and the writing begins. When writing, I never have subject matters in mind, and I let the beat dictate everything.

If "Fuxced Up" is the lead single on this body of work, we can only imagine the vibes you bring throughout the rest of the project. So what do the rest of the song's on "To The Moon" have to say about its concept?

It's To The Moon….It's the takeoff, going from one place to the next. Life is about growth; we work hard every day to elevate and take this Rap and Blues to another level. This tape is a weed session where we experience a little bit of everything my vices, rights, wrongs, Good Times, Bad Days, Love, Lust Smiles. Overall it's Peace, Love, and Wavy Vibes across this project.

If your audience can take one message away from "Fuxced Up," what would you want it to be?

It's a wavy good time and just a moment. Listen closely, and you’ll get a glimpse into who I be. Listen to the body of work, and you’ll see how this is just a piece of a whole puzzle that you’ll enjoy.

What's next for you?

To continue giving people these Rap and Blues. Painted pictures through visuals for the people so I could give the people all of me.
