Hailing from a quaint town in the heartland of Iowa, Luke’s journey fittingly began when the delicate strings of a violin sparked what would become a lifelong passion. From the tender age of three and being nurtured by a family deeply rooted in musical passion,

Luke’s musical journey is inspiring with passion, determination, and resilience. Welcome to Buzz, Ginny Luke! We loved “Devil At My Heels,” so we had to ask! What inspired this release, and what was your favorite part of the creative process this time?

The inspiration behind "Devil at My Heels" starts with a classic badass rock feel and encompasses female power, sex appeal, temptation, and the narrative of a toxic lust story and my character finding her inner strength and power. My favorite part of the creative process was working with director Harrison Sanborn on the concept, story, and shots of the band, styling with Carol Miranda, Kicka Custom by Marika, and choosing looks from RUBY's Fashion Library with my artist friend EMM.

What did you envision the music video being like first? Was the final version we saw similar to what you initially imagined?

I envisioned the video very close to how it turned out and felt—the director, Harrison Sanborn, and I were very deliberate in storyboarding, shot listing, and executing the vision and storyline from the beginning. I think the exciting elements that I enjoy dialing in are the set, the chemistry in my performance with my co-lead, Cesar Alan, and the vibe of the band shots.

What qualities do you think are most important for a musician to have?

Self-belief, tenacity, courage, perseverance, and a huge SPIRIT that people can feel.

What’s been your favorite part of your musical journey, and what does music mean to you?

My musical journey started at age 3 with classical violin and piano. Wow, what a question! I think it has been meeting all types of people from all over the planet and having so many deep connections and experiences with other musicians, even if we don't speak the same language.

What does music mean to me? It's a deeply human expression. It's my most comprehensive, colorful way to express myself, and it exposes one's human experience through it. That's what makes each artist so special—no one can be the same regarding expression. Everyone has something unique to say.

What’s next for Ginny Luke, and is there anything you’d like to say to your fans?

I am headed out on the second leg of the AJR "Maybe Man" arena tour tomorrow - I'm playing violin, keys, and saxophone, and singing BGVs. I love being in touch with people who listen to my music, and I would encourage anyone who finds my music interesting to reach out, and never stop rocking!!
