Hannah Gross is a singer/songwriter from Metro Detroit and is based in Los Angeles. Her music is genre-bending but tends often to dip into the world of dark pop. Gross is known for her outspokenly bold lyrics and soulful rasp that carries throughout the melodies in her music. She has the innate ability to switch effortlessly from a subtle softness to a powerful belt. Some of her inspirations include Banks, Lykke Li, Florence + the Machine, and Miley Cyrus.
“F**k The Party” welcomes both the uplifting embrace of a bouncing pop backdrop and the heartfelt, passionate connection of a song written with depth and intention. That balance is crucial, and really well executed. You relate to that honesty with that vulnerability within “F**k The Party”, and at the same time, it’s easy to turn up loud and escape within. Hannah Gross has mastered the art of melodic satisfaction, so the song lingers in your mind long after listening. Despite the lyrical turmoil, the track energizes and brings together everyone who has felt these emotions and been down these pathways. The moods vary throughout “F**k The Party”, proving Hannah Gross to be both a creative and versatile artist. An artist well worth tuning in for.

Welcome to BuzzMusic! Can you start by telling us how you got started making music?
I have been singing in the shower professionally since I was a toddler, but as far as pursuing it as a career I’d say since high school/college era. It’s been a long run and I’m so ready to share new music and be able to connect to people through my songs.
“F**k The Party” has a strong lyrical depth to it! Can you dive into the meaning of the lyrics?
This song came about so quickly and so organically and it’s because of the truthfulness of the lyrics. I battle--as many do--with anxiety and depression and sometimes it may seem as though I’m outgoing in social settings, but truth be told I’m pretty f**king awkward and nervous internally. I wrote this song about the social pressures of interacting at huge parties and dodgy clubs with people who don’t know or give a fuck about me. I was fed up with the bullshit of smiling and nodding all just to get through a night of impersonal chaos.
What do you hope your listeners take away from “F**k The Party”?
For me, this song is about yearning to feel something real, whether it be physical or emotional, and I hope others can relate to that as well. If you need tequila, sex, drugs--pick your poison--it’s your prerogative.
What has been one of your most memorable or life-changing achievements as an artist so far?
I think I have been through the wringer, and this is NOT to say I’m the only artist who has experienced the ups and downs of the music industry. I’d say the tough lessons, though unfortunate, are the ones that have changed me as a human, for the better. Finally being a fully independent artist is an achievement of mine--I’m scared as fuck, but the most excited I've ever been.
