Seattle's very own versatile punk rock band and trio Jet///Lag reminds us that time waits for no one with their latest hard-hitting single, "Second Bet."
The three-piece band was formed on their shared love of Star Wars, Marvel, DND, and power pop. Comprising Adam Bredlau on guitar and vocals, Josh Padilla on bass and vocals, and Caelan Hunter on drums and vocals, Jet///Lag found their sound through influences like The Lawrence Arms, Superchunk, Bully, and The Menzingers.
So far, Jet///Lag has two EPs under their belt, All We Ever Wanted Was Everything and Ride it Out. They're also said to be releasing their first full-length album sometime soon. In the meantime, Jet///Lag is kicking over our speakers with their latest hearty release, "Second Bet," a thrilling yet emotional song about wanting to feel alive and realizing that time waits for no one.
This dynamic ear-pleaser opens with Bredlau's short electric guitar strums and his mellow, chilled-out vocals. While coming to terms that he's the greatest "Second Bet," Jet///Lag topples our speakers over with their mighty transitions that blast us into a heavy punk rock atmosphere. Bredlau's angst paired with Padilla's tight bass licks and Caelan's groovy drums is a recipe for success.
There are several transitions throughout the piece, bringing us into late 90s garage-rock and punk pop, but the thrilling sensations stem from Jet///Lag's scorching hot rock vibe that makes us sweat. Bredlau's honest and relatable lyrics about time's continuous state and our impending doom don't seem all that dark alongside Jet///Lag's exciting instrumentals that end the song on a carefree note.

Welcome to BuzzMusic, Jet///Lag. We adore how you've captured our attention with your latest conceptual single, "Second Bet." What inspired such a cathartic and honest song like this?
Thank you for the kind words about “Second Bet,” and thanks for having us be a part of BuzzMusic! This song was written back in 2019, during a period of time our front person Adam, was trying to find his place as a musician and lyricist. Jet///Lag was still new, and we didn’t know what band we wanted to be. The creative process can be long and exhausting, but through the process, “Second Bet” was written and encapsulated Adam’s feelings about a band trying to find their feet.
How would you describe your band's sound in "Second Bet?" What genres or sounds did you want to push through this song?
While the three of us all draw from different bands and inspirations, this song came together due to our love of bands like Jawbreaker, The Replacements, and Weezer. We all very much enjoy 80’s Alternative Rock and 90’s Pop Punk and like to think that this song was a blend of the two.
What was the core message or concept you wanted listeners to take away from "Second Bet?"
We wanted their to be a feeling of eagerness in this song but also a sense of self-worth. Nothing is going to happen unless you make it happen. This song feels motivating for us, and we hope that feeling can be shared by listeners!
Could you drop any hints regarding your forthcoming debut full-length album? Should we expect to see "Second Bet" on the tracklist?
Our new album, entitled “Lung Mass Anxiety,” will be coming out on October 7th, 2022! You most certainly will hear “Second Bet” on it, as well as a good blend of heavier songs lyric-wise and sound-wise!
Do you plan on releasing a music video for "Second Bet?"
Unfortunately, “Second Bet” won’t be getting a video at the moment, but we are planning a video for our next single!
