Bakersfield, California alternative rock band Karma Hitlist is making its return felt with “Sick Like This,” a hard-hitting single and accompanying music video that confronts toxic relationships, emotional exhaustion, and the moment self-respect finally outweighs attachment. Reuniting in 2025 after years away from the scene, the veteran rock outfit brings decades of musical history into a new chapter that feels both personal and long overdue.

Fronted by Ty Elam, formerly of Videodrone, Karma Hitlist traces its roots to Bakersfield's influential alternative metal scene. Originally formed in 2001, the band returned with longtime members Mike Montano and Ty Elam alongside guitarist Ryan Vaughan and drummer Maddix Wilson.

“Sick Like This” channels the frustration of an unhealthy relationship into a declaration of independence. The chorus, particularly “This time is the last time,” captures the difficult but necessary decision to walk away. Rather than romanticizing emotional turmoil, the track focuses on reclaiming control, giving its confrontational message a sense of purpose.

The accompanying music video has surpassed 150,000 views and features appearances from familiar faces within Bakersfield's rock community, including Dave Deroo of Adema. It also pays tribute to late members Jim Fendrick and Alex Gee, connecting the band's present with its history.

Following their fall 2026 tour alongside acts including Julien-K, Trapt, and Primer 55, Karma Hitlist is preparing new music and a spring 2027 tour. “Sick Like This” is more than a comeback single. It's a convincing reminder that experience, chemistry, and unfinished creative business can still make for compelling rock music.
