Kat Von D has released her haunting and infectious new single "Dead," complete with a music video that channels iconic 80s Jane Fonda workout vibes. Following up on her late 2023 single "Vampire Love," "Dead" is yet another step in Kat Von D's journey into music. She is currently in the studio putting the final touches on multiple new singles leading up to an album release this Fall. The video for "Dead," directed by Ryan Valdez (known for his work with Rise Against, Korn, and Stone Sour), is now available on YouTube.
For those not familiar, Kat Von D’s disco-goth sound is a unique mix of synthwave, goth, new wave, post-punk, and other 80s electronic influences. "Dead" and "Vampire Love" mark her first releases since 2021. Her music is deeply personal and reflective and written from a place of love, darkness, and vulnerability. Despite the dark themes, her sound is unforgettable and timeless, captivating listeners with its ethereal, romantically macabre charm. "Dead" was co-written with Shari Short (Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Rita Ora) and produced by Fernando Garibay (Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Kylie Minogue), who also worked on the track with Kat Von D.
Before her rise to fame in the tattoo and beauty industries, Kat Von D was deeply immersed in music. With a background in classical music and a passion for various genres, she has always been dedicated to her first love: music. Kat Von D's musical journey has seen significant growth, especially after she began studying singing under renowned vocal coach Ken Tamplin. Her collaboration with GRAMMY® Award-nominated Linda Perry in 2012 further honed her songwriting skills. Pouring raw emotions into her music, Kat Von D's songs reflect her deepest feelings and life experiences, solidifying her place in the music industry. With "Dead," Kat Von D continues to enchant and captivate with her unique sound and artistic vision, proving she is more than just a tattoo queen or makeup mogul – she's a formidable force in the music world.
