Kay Soul brings us a refreshing personality, she's ambitious and fun-loving. She invokes spectacular and timeless melodies, while still keeping her style modern and fresh. Her strong connection with music is easily audible in her single "What Love Can Do”. The power and soul in her emotionally-rich voice take us on a meaningful journey through her authentic songwriting ability. The R&B vibe in this finely-calibrated piece fuse perfectly with Kay Soul's passionate vocals. “What Love Can Do” is a unique collaboration of soulful lyrics and beat and it stands out. We can feel the love and admiration in her voice, but the beat has us swaying along to the music. We had high expectations and Kay Soul surpassed all of them. This dreamy new single has us craving more from Kay Soul, and personally, it will be bumping on my playlist!

At what age did you decide to start pursuing music?

Music is something that has always been apart of me from a very young age. I can remember being in elementary school loving to sing in the choir and play in the band. I will say that at age 9 I got to sing a solo of "Oh Holy Night" at the school Christmas Program. I fell in love with the mic that night.

What would be your dream collaboration?

That's a very hard question. I admire so many artists. My dream collaboration would be a record featuring Lauryn Hill, Stevie Wonder and John Legend!!

What’s your writing process like?

My writing process is free flowing. Whenever lyrics or concepts come to mind, I usually create a voice note if I can hear the melody. Otherwise, I will write it down on paper or make a note in my phone. Once I can visually see the story that I'm trying to tell in the song, I'm able to take what may have been an outline and create the full song.

How do you continue to feed your passion for music everyday?

I am a consumer as well as a creator so I listen to a lot of different artists. I'm always tuned in to what's going on in the culture. I have a home studio set up that gives me the freedom to play with ideas and concepts and keeps me engaged in wanting to get better at my craft.

Can you tell us more about the message you want to get across to your fans in "What Love Can Do"?

"What Love Can Do" is giving my fans more of my back story and sharing what used to be a sacred place for me which was my Grandmother's room and her love. I'm asking the question but also suggesting that some of the tragedies in today's world can still be fought with Love. I think everyone can relate to having at least one person or place that made them feel safe. Love often gets a bad reputation. I hope that fans can be encouraged to believe again in Love even on the most basic level as being something that still has the power to change the world or at least change the way we interact with one another.

What's next for you?

I'm continuing to pursue my dreams and goals. I am currently working on a new album which I plan to release under my new music imprint, Cornerstone Drive. My mission in this next phase of my career is to create a movement of alternative soul music that is geared towards those who are suffering with mental illness. I will be looking to collaborate with artists who's music speaks to healing of the mind, heart, and soul.
