Ukranian-American singer-songwriter and pop recording artist Kelsie Kimberlin pairs up with Colombian singer-songwriter and producer Pedro Vengoechea for their uplifting new single and music video entitled "Fruit Basket."

The ambitious and talented 22-year-old Kelsie Kimberlin has quickly made a name for herself. Having released her debut single, "Lobotomy," in 2020, she's already shared over a dozen more releases while recording more than 150 original songs with half a dozen music videos.

In her latest release, Kelsie Kimberlin teams up with the suave stylings of Colombian singer Pedro Vengoechea for their recent single and music video, "Fruit Basket." Being Ukranian-American, Kelsie Kimberlin says this is her song of "hope and happiness for everyone who cares about humanity."

Despite the horrors of the war in Ukraine, Kelsie Kimberlin wants to show the world that they're living life to the fullest by celebrating love, family, friends, and the simple things in life. Due to the song's Latin feel, Kelsie Kimberlin traveled to Cartagena, Colombia, to film the video. This video has everything from the brightly painted street walls to the multicolored flags and the famous Palenqueras in their vibrant colors with fruit baskets on their head.

Welcome to BuzzMusic, Kelsie. We adore the uplifting and vibrant vibe of your recent music video with Pedro Vengoechea for "Fruit Basket." What inspired you to create this feel-good song in the first place?

Thank you for your kind words. This song and video mean a great deal to me personally and artistically. First, I wanted to create a fun "feel good" song to compensate for years of lockdown under COVID and years of division, war, and conflict. Second, I wanted to do something different with lots of color and energy.

Was this your first time working alongside Pedro Vengoechea when creating "Fruit Basket"? How did this collaboration come about?

Actually, this is not the first time I have worked with Pedro. He co-produced my last release, "Cosmopolitan Girl," and he has been involved with several other songs I will soon release. However, "Fruit Basket" is the first song that he sang a sort of duet with me, and I met him for the first time when I flew to Cartagena to film the video. He is truly amazing, and I now feel like he is family to me.

What was your experience shooting the "Fruit Basket" music video in Cartagena, Colombia? Was that your first time traveling for a music video?

This was not my first time traveling for a music video. In fact, because I am Ukranian-American, I filmed four music videos in Ukraine before the war. My experience in Cartagena was spellbinding. The people and food were amazing, and the film director and crew were professional and prepared. We filmed most of the video in the old part of the city called Getsemani, which was magical. And after two days of filming, we spent several days sightseeing, island hopping, and street shopping. Pedro was with me the entire time, ensuring we had the best experience possible.

What was your goal with the music video for "Fruit Basket"? What did you want to convey and get across to viewers?

As I mentioned, people worldwide have been experiencing collective depressive stress for a long time, and I wanted to help them shed that away. So I wrote this song hoping people will see all the joy in the world again and celebrate their love for one another.

What's next for you?

I have recently filmed four new music videos and have been on a roll in the studio, recording dozens of new songs. I expect 2023 will be a big year for me and that my fans will be very happy about the trajectory of my music. So please stay posted.
