Welcome to BuzzMusic Kierra Matovu! What has been the most monumental moment in your career so far and why?
The most monumental moment in my career so far is actually getting to a point where I’m ready to share everything I’m working on. When I first started this journey of working on my music it was sort of a secret. Like each song I wrote was like a piece of my diary being torn out and I just wasn’t sure I would ever be able to share some of the things that have been so personal to me. But as I wrote more and more as the days came and recorded each record to hear it fully come to life I finally was able to official share my first single back in November 2019.
Tell us about your record “Superman”. What inspired you to write this song?
When I first started writing “Superman” I was driving on my way to my best friend's house when I first heard the beat. I was humming a melody and thought to myself I’m going to write a song about what I want/feel is missing from my life. So I guess my lack of unconditional love/intimacy on the dating side is what inspired this song... I guess I also didn’t know how much pain behind each word I sang until I actually listened back to the finished product. Tell us about your record “Superman”. What inspired you to write this song? What was the most challenging aspect of writing “Superman” and why?
The pain behind it. To have the desire for that real thing and to be/give loved unconditionally is very discouraging in a world full of people afraid of being real. So to actually speak on my perspective of what I want is hard when I never really had that.
How would you describe your arrangement to this song? Did you experiment with any new elements?
My arrangement to my song has an acoustic vibe in the R&B lane. It takes you on a journey that gets better and better from beginning to the end of my song.
What are you looking forward to the most in 2020 Kierra Matovu?
In 2020 I’m looking forward to new opportunities in bettering myself and as an artist. I’m excited to be dropping more music at the top of the year and doing gigs to expand my fan base.
