San Francisco Bay Area folk-pop duo Lonely Parrots are making a pretty convincing argument for canceling your plans. Their new single, “Living Room Lights,” turns an ordinary night at home into a warm, playful celebration of friendship, spontaneity, and the people who make anywhere feel like the place to be.

Made up of singer-songwriters Michael Martinez and Max Embers, Lonely Parrots have built their sound around catchy melodies and emotionally honest songwriting. With “Living Room Lights,” they keep things refreshingly simple: sometimes a living room, good friends, music, and a stocked fridge beat going out altogether.

Written in the same living room that inspired it, the acoustic bedroom-pop track was born from an evening of tears, laughter, and hanging out with one of the duo’s closest friends. That intimacy translates naturally into the record. Instead of chasing a massive party anthem, Lonely Parrots capture the smaller moments that somehow end up becoming core memories.

There is an endearing looseness to the concept. Dance like nobody is watching, raid the fridge, turn the closet into an impromptu fashion show, sing way too loudly, and maybe attempt a questionable mouth-trumpet solo. “Living Room Lights” understands that the best nights rarely need much planning.

The single also feels fitting for a duo that has built its career outside traditional industry expectations. After leaving Los Angeles behind, Michael Martinez and Max Embers leaned into intimate house concerts, touring the United States five times in their converted van, Wendy, and performing more than 250 shows together.

Self-produced as part of Lonely Parrots’ forthcoming debut album, For The Time Being, expected in spring 2027, “Living Room Lights” brings that same house-show philosophy into the music itself.
