Lyrique Drops Brand New Visuals for Hit Single “Ivory”

Writer: BUZZ LABUZZ LA

Calgary rapper Edward Que, better known for his professional name Lyrique, just released a new video for his single “Ivory”. This serves as the first music video from his project “Saints In The Summer”. “Ivory” was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Amaurhi. This single aims to bring back the fun-loving feelings of summer. The new music video features Kirstin Wilson, Lyrique’s girlfriend, and some of his close friends. This along with the charisma and overall confidence of Lyrique’s deliver drive through the sentiments of the song even further.

“Ivory” is a new hip-hop/R&B anthem with a versatile, unique tropical undertone. Whether he’s weaving through catchy verses or the addicting hook, Lyrique’s powerhouse vocals remain strong over top of the intricate soundscape. His songwriting ability will leave you singing along to every word, “Ivory” features a completely addicting hook that will guarantee a second listen. The soundscape on this single leans partly towards those late-night vibes but partly resides somewhere a little harder hitting. By the time the track comes to an end, that backbeat has energized the room, and that hook has surely woven its way into your ear. We welcome this up and coming artist into the BuzzMusic Family with open arms and we can’t wait to see what he delivers next!

Check out “Ivory” here and read more below in our exclusive interview with Lyrique!

Welcome to BuzzMusic Lyrique! You give off a really confident aura through your music! Is this a skill you've developed over time or has it come naturally to you?

It’s a skill I feel I developed over time. As an artist, you have to believe in yourself for others to buy what you’re selling. Confidence if placed properly is the key to have a good network. I think as creators your network is your net worth if your confidence gets you that with the right mind and attitude opportunities come to you in a sense.

“Ivory” hit us to our very core with your vocal performance. Do you find it comes effortlessly to fill your voice with such passion?

not really haha I’m not the best dancer so I just try to groove with the beat. I think the image is key and if you vibe with your product your clientele will too.

Do you feel that your music is an accurate depiction of your life? Do you feel ultimately connected to your listeners through your music?

Definitely, when I think music is seasonal. And with summer done I wanna keep a bit of warmth every time I deliver my music. Like the vibe, I think Ivory gives.

Congrats on your EP! What was the overall concept of your project “Saints In The Summer”?

The EP was inspired by a lot of the emotions we have during the summer. From On God to saying ima own the summer to Pulp Fiction which gives a driving vibe. I’d say it was a culmination of the feelings I felt during the summer. Ivory was the track that ignited the EP to be started. I was only supposed to do Ivory but then the EP came to fruition.

Thanks for taking the time to chat with us! What’s next for you artistically? Does your creativity manifest itself in other ways?

Definitely, like I produce beats, I do graphic art, I do some writing for other artists as well. So definitely the creativity in me manifests in more ways than just being LYRIQUE. I have another project and video that I will be dropping soon. So stay tuned.
