Maxine Davis Releases "You Could Have Told Me"

Maxine Davis is a successful Southern Songstress originating from the Rio Grande Valley in Texas. Maxine’s prospering music career has landed her performances on numerous stages, and even appearances on multiple television shows. She released her first project ‘She is Maxine’ in March 2016. Maxine entices her audience with her soulful voice, entrancing melodies, and powerful lyrics that will leave any listener in awe. From an early age Maxine has been intrigued by music. Her greatest influence in her musical career is Whitney Houston. “[Maxine] truly felt as if she was called to sing after hearing the late and great Whitney Houston on the radio.”

Maxine’s music shares many characteristics of Whitney’s, such as soul, powerful vocals, and emotional connections with the audience. Maxine’s persona is a strong independent woman, which she earns in her Motown inspired hit single, ‘You Could Have Told Me’. My favourite line from the song is “I’m not your baby, you lost that chance when you lied, none of your calls get replies”. She sings this with confidence, emotion, and power. While listening to the song it is easy to become immersed in the storyline and feel the pain of Maxine, but you also feel her strength to overcome the hurt and it leaves you feeling empowered. The storyline is relatable and ends with a positive, feel good message. Maxine uses her vocal talent to connect with listeners in a way that allows every lyric to be not only understood, but felt. This is an uncommon characteristic in artists in this generation and it is refreshing seeing her use her talent to her fullest potential.

Hi Maxine, it's great to chat with you! Can you tell our readers a bit about you! What do you enjoy most about creating & singing music?

What I love about creating and singing music is that you can take the listener on a journey. You can design a whole new world through sound. I find it so amazing how music can evoke the rawest emotions straight from your soul.

Love your new single and video for “You Could Have Told Me", can you tell us about the creation process for both the song and video? We'd love to hear more about it!

Well this song, and a few others off my upcoming album, are an ode to the 1960’s Motown era. I grew up listening to all genres but to me, that period of music is truly timeless!

Once I heard the beat, the melody came almost instantly. I knew it was going to be about love, but I gave it a twist. I added a bit of pain to it. To me, love isn’t always flowery and pretty. It can be tough, it can be hurtful, but thats what makes you appreciate the great moments even more.

I’m filming the music video in a few days! I am so excited to add a visual to this song. It will be a beautiful, vintage inspired, story of self-reclamation.

What are three things you'd love for people to know about you?

Stay tuned for my next single “Say Yes”! The release date is July 1st.Besides being an Artist, I also own and run an energetic healing company named Crystal Eyes Healing. We just launched our new site! Its filled with Crystals, jewelry, readings, and other magical offerings! You can check it out here (crystaleyeshealing.com). I am looking to collaborate with an indie female rapper on a song that I am currently penning. So, if that is any of you readers, please reach out to me!

What's next for you through 2019?

What’s next for me is a lot of creating! Writing for myself and others. I’ll be finishing up my album by the end of this year, as well as, producing a couple more visuals. Performing anywhere and everywhere I can. I have a special gig with Sofar Sounds on June 26th and I would love for those who dig my music to come out and support! Feel free track me on Bandcamp to stay up to date on all upcoming shows.
