Melanie Gillott Unpacks “Delusion”

Welcome to Buzz, Melanie Gillott! We loved “Delusion," we wanted to ask! Could you take us through the creative process for this release?

Thank you so much for your kind words about “Delusion”! I started working on “Delusion” after finishing my debut EP: “Unpredictable.” I didn’t know what I wanted to do next. I had so many different ideas going on in my head, but then I decided I needed to stop overthinking and just write.

So, one night, I sat down with my journal and allowed myself just to write whatever I was feeling/thinking. After multiple writing sessions, “Delusion” was born. “Delusion” reflects the conflicting emotions that arise after a breakup. It’s about realizing your worth amidst the pain of letting go.

What inspired you to pursue music seriously?

What quality is most important for a musician, and what does music mean to you?

I think the most important quality a musician/artist can have is being resilient. Being an artist has its ups and downs but if you are committed to your craft and believe in yourself—you will have the strength to overcome the many challenges that will come along the way.

My resiliency has been a valuable trait that has helped me professionally and personally in my artistic journey. Music means the absolute world to me. It’s been the one constant in my life, and I’ve made many invaluable relationships because of it. Music has truly shaped me into the person I am today.

If your fans could take one thing away from your music, what would you want it to be?

My biggest hope is for my fans to take my songs and be able to relate to them. When someone says, “I’ve been in this type of situation before,” or “I’m going through something like this currently,” it brings me so much joy that they can resonate and relate with my art.

What’s next for Melanie Gilott? Is there anything you’d like to say to your fans?

I’m very passionate about creating, whether it's through the art of acting, singing, songwriting, or writing. I can’t wait for you to see what I have been working on. To my fans, I’m so grateful for you and thank you so much for all your love and support.
