Mikaela Finne Is Quickly Making Her Name Known With Release Like “Do I Even Know”

Mikaela Finne is an up and coming country artist from Sundom outside of Vasa, Finland. Mikaela Finne is swiftly building an impressive name for herself on the global music scene. With stunning country-rock vocals and a clear awareness of what works from a songwriting perspective, her music reaches out to connect with a broader audience. It effectively fuses hints of organic country with a rock sentiment and an overall engaging, enjoyable style. “Do I Even Know”  is all of this, a quickly familiar set-up paves the way well for a song that skillfully and poetically details the scenes of its story. Mikaela Finne has fused a brilliantly uplifting and progressive melody, with a warm and comforting musicality, and a story that seems just personal enough to connect, but also vague enough for listeners to make it their own.

It’s a pleasure to know there are artists and songwriters creating and performing music of this nature with such clear passion and a love for the process. It’s easy to hear why fans have taken to the rising star Mikaela in recent months. This latest single speaks volumes on behalf of the quality and content that’s to come. Definitely a name worth knowing.

Welcome to BuzzMusic Mikaela Finne! Great to be able to chat with you, thanks for the interview! What can you tell us about the overall concept of your self-titled album?

I wanted to make a record I could be proud of, a record with some older songs, new songs and some of my favorite songs. And I accomplished just that.

“Do I Even Know" was an incredibly versatile and catchy track. Where did you draw the inspiration to create this particular type of sound?

Thank you, I’m glad you like it! “Do I Even Know” is one of my personal favorites from the record. This song and the whole record has a sound that’s real and true to me as an artist, and that’s exactly what I wanted and talked to my producer Oscar Harryson about before we started recording. I didn’t want something that sounded “clean” or “slick”. I wanted a 100% real sound, and that’s what we created.

How would you say that “Do I Even Know" compares to the kind of music you curated when you first started out as an artist?!

Oh wow, I think it’s very different because when I started out writing songs I was about 13-14 years old and I thought about what others would think when I wrote my songs, and I don’t do that anymore. And at least to me, I can tell from the songs I’m writing now.

Do you prefer the more intimate recording process over live performance? How do you personally feel when you're performing your music live?

I love both very much, can't choose which one I like more because they're two totally different experiences.

How have you honed your songwriting style over time, and what do you think are the main qualities that make a song truly connect and last in the long-run?

I edit my songs a lot more now then I did way back when, and to me it shows. I think more about how I wanna express myself and what I want the listener to feel when they hear my song. For me a good song is a song that makes you think or feel, and its relatable. It’s so easy to feel lonely in this world we’re living in and a good song can make that go away for a little bit.

It was great having you here on BuzzMusic! Tell us more about what's next for you after this album release? Any shows in the near future?!

My goal for 2020 is to play more live shows then I've ever done before. I'm gonna apply to play at AmericanaFest again as well and hopefully I'll be performing at the festival in Nashville in September 2020. On November 8th I'm having a release gig for my record, here in Stockholm and I'm very much looking forward to that.
