Welcome to BuzzMusic, Party Favors! We loved “Iconography;" what a liberating piece of music! You mentioned that the creative process for this piece was organic, right? What was your favorite part about seeing the vision for this release come to life?
Thank you for the opportunity! We appreciate Buzz loving “Iconography!” It’s been fun to celebrate its release! The creative process for this track was very organic in that we let the pieces develop in their own time with no real plan from the beginning of turning this into a release. In early 2022, Tony wrote the poetry that eventually became the track's lyrics. The name “Iconography” came months after hearing a friend say the word while hosting a drag show, and the instrumental came after that. We recorded a demo at home that sat in our files for months and months while we focused on releasing other projects. Then in late 2022, we recorded it in the studio and started planning the music video afterward. Our favorite part of the vision coming to life was probably seeing the music video for the first time. Everything seemed to fall into place easily for the video shoot, and our director, Darrin, captured the vision we had for the video perfectly!
What’s been your favorite part about making music in general? Do the two of you have any favorite musical memories together?
Our favorite part about making music is manifesting our dreams into reality and continually proving that we can achieve those dreams that little 8-year-old Jesse and Tony had growing up. It is so amazing to witness a spark of creation turn into an idea that turns into a real-life moment. Sharing those moments with people who support us is incredible, and we hope to encourage those people to go after their dreams and, more importantly, accept and love themselves as they are.
For any listeners who might be trying to follow in your footsteps, what do you think is the most important quality for an artist to have?
Stay authentic to yourself. PERIOD! Many artists and art forms inspire us, but we only aspire to be unique. That is part of the fun of creating art- you discover your unique spin on life. You process qualities that are uniquely your own, and the world needs YOU!
What do you aim to achieve with your music, and how would you describe your music to someone who hasn’t heard it before?
We aim to achieve big personal dreams with our music, like arena shows and awards, but our main hope is to connect with people to spread the important message of self-love and self-acceptance and encourage people to go after their dreams. Our music is a mixed genre you can bop to with pop songs like “Iconography” and our debut album, "Who We Are." We strip back the glitz (but never the glamour) with our acoustic projects like our cover of “Sweet Child o’ Mine” and our "Live From Popside Recording Studio" EP. Party Favors has a little something for all types of people.
What’s next for Party Favors? Can we expect to hear more new music soon, and is there anything you want to say to your fans?
We’re still celebrating Iconography, but as artists were always creating, so yes, there will be new music soon! We’ve been performing a new unreleased song called “One of a Kind” in our live performances. That track is part of a larger project we’re looking forward to!
