Pistols At Dawn Is Ready To Leave The Bullshit Behind On “Not Sorry”

They wish you the best, though, sweetheart.

With their ferocious, eclectic signature rock style, Atlanta-based quartet Pistols At Dawn have rapidly made a name for themselves with their captivating releases. Continuing their recent hot streak, their latest single, “Not Sorry,” is a masterclass in holding opposing forces in tension and synthesizing them into something entirely new.

Pistols At Dawn have always stood apart in the hard rock scene, and with this track, they continue to do so, further perfecting the sound they’ve been cultivating over the past two years.

One thing that’s separated Pistols At Dawn from their peers is their ability to be versatile and vulnerable without feeling too melodramatic. Equally as at home coining pop melodies or being confessional and forthright like folksingers, for example, Pistol At Dawn’s ability to switch gears as the release demands has led to unique and compelling releases. They aren’t afraid to experiment either, and this yearning, this desire to be better, has led to the talented band’s star rising in recent times.

Pistol At Dawn’s latest release, “Not Sorry,” is a scalding, uncompromising anthem that impressively manages to be both ferocious and delicate, sometimes within the same breath. The instrumental performance features verses anchored by high-string bass grooves, instantly iconic lead guitar performance, and other samples and sinister electronic effects.

When delivered with lyrics like “Really hate this side of you / crazy toxic attitude / I hope that shit works out for you Cause I'm not sorry,” you get an incredibly immersive release that we can’t get enough of.

Pistol At Dawn’s latest release, “Not Sorry,” is a scathing, powerful rejection of flawed love that still manages to have nuance in a way that love should.

Welcome to Buzz, Pistols At Dawn! We loved your release, “Not Sorry,” what a powerful song! We wanted to ask what the inspiration behind this release was.

Thank you so much for having us! Not Sorry was inspired by previous relationships, both romantic and otherwise. The people who suck the energy out of you and who need all the attention to be on them to thrive. The ones who make you question why you put yourself through spending even a fraction of a second dealing with them.

This song is an anthem for anyone who has ever dealt with that. Because as you're grooving and singing along, you can look them in the eye and tell ‘em you're not sorry, but they will be!

You guys dropped an accompanying music video for “Not Sorry” on YouTube, right? What was your favorite part of the creative process for bringing your vision to life?

We love every single part of the creative process, from thinking of a storyboard to choosing locations. Thankfully, we have a great team and a creative director who helps reign it all in. For Not Sorry specifically, the rain shots were probably the most fun to film. While filming, we have the best time hyping each other up, helping with wardrobe choices, and with our crazy shenanigans on set.

What inspired you to take that initial step to start pursuing music seriously, and what motivates you to make music now?

What initially made the spark is probably different for all of us, but one thing is for sure: None of us can see ourselves doing anything else. For us, pursuing and creating music is as important as breathing. We can’t live without it. And while recording this album, touring, and performing together, these have been the most fulfilling times of our lives.

If your fans could take one thing away from your music, what would you want it to be?

Remember to live and make memories. No one can control you or put you in one mold. Work hard for your dreams, and if people try to bring you down, walk away. Music has many interpretations; whatever meaning resonates with you for our music is the meaning you should go with. Our upcoming songs touch on a lot of different vibes, but they have a part of each of our creative souls, and they are all Pistols at Dawn.

What’s next for Pistols At Dawn, and is there anything you’d like to say to your fans?

We’re about to tour Europe and the UK with Des Rocs starting September 21-Octobher 13! Even before that, we have shows in Atlanta on September 14 and New York on September 17. We also have something very cool coming up on September 20 that we’ve been teasing. Our fans can look forward to new music and a lot of cool news from Pistols at Dawn in the upcoming months.
