Growing up with diverse musical influences, singer/songwriter Anie Delgado is inspired by the Cuban Music of her heritage, classic rock her dad used to blast on the way to dance classes, and of course the pop stars she obsessed over growing up in the early 2000s. Anie started playing guitar in 4th grade and slowly but surely developed her craft by keeping a notebook of poetry growing up. Weeks after high school graduation, Anie moved to NYC to study performing arts at AMDA but soon realized her true passion for creating new wave pop music. Anie started collaborating with other artists while in NYC as a part of an indie experimental rock band Dr. Medicine. After her split with the band, Anie collaborated with rising producers in NYC dipping her toes in pop music. Anie relocated to Los Angeles in 2018 and has since been working with producer PJ Bianco (Jonas Brothers, ARIZONA, Demi Lovato) on development and a set of new singles. Galaxy is just the beginning.
Anie’s new eclectic pop single “Galaxy” is all about love that is so big it’s at atmospheric proportions. The contemporary pop track is layered with elements of electronic synths and soul and adds a vibrant new wave sound to Anie’s already impressive repertoire. The light hearted track takes the listener on a journey through space and time. We can’t get enough of Anie and her new single “Galaxy”. I highly recommend you check it out and stay on the lookout for Anie Delgado and her future releases.

Hey Anie! Welcome to BuzzMusic! How long have you been involved in the music industry? How did you get started?
Hi! I’m definitely a newcomer. I’ve been making music since I was a kid casually but Galaxy is a clear start to my career. Before Galaxy, I was in New York acting and in an experimental rock band just to dip my toes into music. I quickly realized that pop music was my true passion and re-assessed my life. I moved to LA last September to meet the kinds of producers I wanted to work with and that’s when I met my manager Jeff Gordon who introduced me to PJ Bianco. I started writing and sent PJ a number of ideas but we landed on Galaxy which was the first song I sent him.
We love your track “Galaxy!! Can you tell us the meaning behind the lyrics and what you hope your fans take away from this song?
Thank you! The lyrics are really layered into a few experiences I’ve had. The whole idea of Galaxy was conceived from a late night pep talk I got from a friend on a really sad birthday where I was dumped the night before. I didn’t want to do anything for my birthday, but my friends dragged me out anyways. It was WAY too much fun until I got sad girl birthday vibes late that night. My friend Angie pulled me aside and told me that I was a galaxy. That I was all I needed. I held this principal closely to myself for the next year or so moving through life independently until I met my partner. I was taken aback because I was so committed to living independently, but I soon realized he was like a galaxy too. He was vibrant, independent, and bright and we didn’t have to lose ourselves to be together. That’s the thing about people: sometimes they are galaxies, sometimes they’re blackholes. A fan recently brought this up to me and I had never thought about it before. It resonates with me though. I think it’s more about how we choose to operate. A person can totally be both. I’m totally an empath and so it can be draining when people disappoint, but this song is really about those beautiful moments when things are working and they’re in sync. I felt that way when I decided to cut this song. I had written it and was writing other things for PJ, but I was at Coachella at the Four Tet set and I was watching people dance and connect with each other and I realized that we’re all galaxies when we’re perfectly in sync and choosing to contribute positivity rather than negative vibes. As much as the song is a love song to my partner, it’s a love song to myself, to my friends, to all of humanity. I want my fans to use this song to pump them up and to know that they are enough and to really appreciate those moments where they get to connect with another human being so simply and naturally. I want them to cherish what seems ordinary. There’s some magic in that. Galaxy is totally about what makes you feel infinite and for me it’s sometimes myself, sometimes my friends, sometimes my partner, sometimes a stranger.
From an artist perspective, what’s your favorite part of “Galaxy”? Why?
The first verse! It came to me so quickly. I sat down knowing that I wanted to write a song about this and it just flowed right out of me because I think the lyrics are so true to my experience. For a lot of my life, I’ve been really type A and don’t always indulge in a moment, but I feel like I really explained exactly how cathartic it is for me to just be in the moment and appreciate it. I think the melody sounds exactly how that feels too. The first verse is totally a love letter to being human.
Do you have any upcoming events you’d like to tell our readers about?
Yes! Hopefully this will have come out just in time to remind LA readers that I am playing a show in Hollywood on July 27th at The Ivar. I’m really excited about this one. It’s such a cool venue. Beyond that, you may see me pop up in Miami or NYC soon for shows. Make sure to follow me on IG to get all of the updates @anie_delgado.
