Welcome to BuzzMusic Prince Amine! Do you recall when you found your early inspirations for music from?
Thank you for having me again! And yep! At an early age, around 6-7ish, cause my Pops would always blast that Motown everywhere we went. Then I later discovered Chris Brown. Even if I wasn’t in the music game as yet I saw an older brother in him.
Let’s talk more about your album “Doubted Child”. Starting with the name of this project, what’s the story behind the name and theme behind most of these songs?
The name and theme came to me when I was in Atlanta, Georgia working on some new sound and I took a quick 5 mins to break to watch stories and posts back from the people in Montreal and I saw to what point people look down on you when you’re trying to make it out coming from the same city as them. I believe I’m the only one in my city who can do what I can do but still won’t have that amount of love n support reflect the amount of talent. Hence the “Doubt”. The child part came from the States where being 18 was still considered being a youngin.
Which single off “Doubted Child” do you feel best represents the album’s theme as a whole the best and why?
I’m Shinin’. That hook reflects being Doubted not just in music but whatever you strive to do later on in life as a career. The soul & gospel of it delivers the message and then when I sing/rap about my experiences with family and all. Can’t wait for y’all to hear it!
How was it collaborating with Telly K on “Alone”?
It was a chill experience. It was the same day I recorded “Eliantte” and I wasn’t really too prepped to record “Alone” so I freestyled my way through it and it came out pretty good. More Life to Telly & Alex from TooSik Studio. Great people to work with!
What was the most challenging aspect of creating your album “Doubted Child” and why?
Probably the change of sound and the fact that I hate expressing myself when it becomes too personal but I overcame that. I feel like right now I’ve been through a lot and it’s time to share the message and also let people know there will always be a brighter day. Just keep on marching soldier!
What can we expect from you in 2020 Prince Amine?
Sounds cliché but the New Me. Different style, a lot more solid, man’s maturing now. I believe it’s time for a drastic change but this one’s for a lifetime. Bet on that!
