Up and coming hip-hop artist Ree Santana is a 25-year-old rapper and lyricist from Philadelphia. Writing since he was 8 years old, music has always been his dream and true passion. His debut EP ‘Pain & Vibes’ dropped on January 25, 2019. Then on April 20, 2019, Santana gave us a new taste of music with a two-track project called ‘Double Pack’. He is set to drop his sophomore EP sometime near the end of this year. You can find all of his music on all major streaming platforms. Stay tuned!

“Chasing A Bag” is Ree Santana’s latest single and we can’t get enough! Ree Santana’s approach to the art-form gives the track a certain calmness but with subtly uplifting energy during the hook. At the same time, “Chasing A Bag” pulls you into a confident state of listening, so the lyrics cleverly stand out a little more thanks to this arrangement and set-up. There’s plenty that seems familiar here lyrically, but also more than enough that feels a little more alternative and fresh. Flickers of Ree’s personality come through in his bars and authentic style. “Chasing A Bag” is a dope new single and we can’t wait to hear more!

Listen to "Chasing A Bag" here and get to know more about Ree Santana in our interview below!

Hey Ree Santana! Can you start by telling us more about yourself and your upbringing into music?

Music is something I truly have a passion for. I’ve been writing since the age of 8. It’s always been the dream I desire to change into reality. However, I didn’t decide to start taking it serious until 2016. Since then, I’ve been a road to grab the worlds attention with the type of talent I bring to the table.

What inspires your writing?

The fact that I’ve had this one dream for almost all my life and I’ve never once had interest in chasing something else or got tired of actually writing music confirms that this is what I was put on this earth to do. On another note, ”struggling” also gives me inspiration to write. Of course I write on my good days, but my bad days are the cause of some of my best music.

What was the overall theme of your track “Chasing A Bag”? What do you hope your listeners take away from it?

Catchy & Vibey. When I first heard the beat, I instantly knew with the right words, it would make people move. This is the song I want people to listen to when they first wake up in the morning and get ready to begin their mission for the day. It’s 2019, who can’t relate to chasing a bag?

What are your thoughts on the hip-hop music scene today?

It certainly isn’t what it was when I first realized I wanted to be an artist. Today’s music scene is very fast paced and independent. I think right now, especially for hiphop, the youth has never had a better time to shine. I don’t think we’ve ever had this many young artists have so much control of the culture.

What do you hope to achieve as a hip-hop artist through the rest of 2019?

Honestly, the fans. I know what my sound is. Having 2 projects out everywhere, I’ve already began creating a catalog of music. If I can just grab the attention of more people and build more fans, I believe I’ll be in a great spot going into 2020.
