Hey Riley! Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got started in the music industry?

Hey, glad to be talking to you guys! My start in the music industry came from me just picking up a guitar a couple years ago and running with it, after I started doing that I developed an interest in producing and writing and singing and have just been working on all of those and I have a lot of fun with it!

Is your track “You’re Right”  related to your real life experiences?

“You’re Right” is actually one of my first songs where it’s not based off of any actual life experience the first words “two nights in a row don’t you know I got a thing for ya” just came to me when I was listening to the beat trying to find inspiration and I just wrote from there kind of creating this word that these two people existed in during a fight in a relationship and how one person in that relationship was reacting to the situation and I really enjoyed just getting to create that narrative and the ways I could go with a situation that was fictional versus how I normally tell a story from my life.

Who are your musical influences and how did you pull them for your new track “You’re Right” ?

My musical influences really change as I go but really the two I tried to draw from for this song are John Mayer and Daniel Caesar, I was really trying to go for an R&B sound tonally with my guitar and I absolutely love how Daniel Caesar uses drums in his songs and that was a major inspiration for this track, I think there may have been some self conscious Eagles inspiration in there as well, the riff I use in the solo and the chord progression remind me a lot of “Hotel California”.

What would be your dream venue to perform at?

My dream venue would be to play Wembley Stadium over in the UK ever since Ed Sheeran sold it out in 2015 that’s always been something that I’ve wanted to do

When you’re not making music what do you do?

When I’m not making music I’m usually hanging out with friends at a local coffee shop, or playing at open mics I really love going out to play my 15 minutes of music and then getting to hear the diversity of local music I feel like there’s always a lot of inspiration there
