Robby Monroe Won’t Let You Define Him In New Release, “Lechery”

Hailing from the vibrant streets of Northeast Philly and now residing in the suburbs of Bensalem, Robby Monroe has quickly established himself as a musical force to be reckoned with. His journey into the realm of music was easy, a natural progression fueled by his innate passion for telling stories and singing along to captivating vocal performances. After Monroe spent some time writing poetry and short stories, he quickly began remixing songs before finally trying his hand at singing, and the rest, as they say, is history.

A lifelong fan and current advocator for musical diversity, what sets Monroe apart is his unwavering commitment to defying genres and challenging preconceived notions. He is truly an artist like no other. When you combine his aforementioned penchant for storytelling and his voracious appetite for all types of music, the result is tantalizingly fresh music that transcends boundaries and breaks down barriers. It’s a breath of fresh air in an environment that often feels stale.

A raunchy, high-energy release, “Lechery” is a perfect snapshot into the musical world Monroe created. As one would expect, “Lechery” isn’t a simple track, blending elements of pop, R&B and hip-hop, with other elements bubbling under the surface. Although blending so many competing influences is a hard line to walk, Monroe walks it expertly. Dropping lyrics like “Just say my name while you / Throwback that Hennessy” and “My discipline just died / So let’s get into this,” Monroe creates a hazy yet enticing soundscape.

Robby Monroe’s “Lechery” is a fresh, catchy and boundary-breaking release that perfectly embodies his goals as an artist. Whenever you’re in the mood for something catchy yet different, tap in and stream Robby Monroe’s “Lechery,” available on all streaming platforms.

Welcome to BuzzMusic, Robby Monroe! We loved “Lechery;" seeing and hearing so many different musical influences melding perfectly is so cool! Can you take us through the creative process for this song?

Hi, and thanks for listening. Glad you enjoyed the track. The creative process for this song was trying to make a song that would bring you back to the early 2000s. I love Y2 K-style music. Some direct references for Lechery's sonic sound were Brandy's song Talk About Our Love and Tyra Banks's song Shake Ya Body. Those upbeat/dance styled RnB records had a specific sound that I felt truly represented me in this new music era.

What is your favourite thing about making music?

My favourite thing about making music is the writing part. Once the beat is done, creating a story around it is always the part I have such fun and focus on. Lyrics are life to me. No matter if a person doesn't even like my song vocally or sonically, they will at least respect the lyrics.

Do you have a favourite musical memory, and what do you want to achieve with your music?

My favourite musical memory has to be when I was super young, in 6th grade and went out for a part in the school musical. I was so nervous and shy but really wanted to be in it, so I practiced this song for hours to prepare for the audition. Day of, when my name was called, I went into the room and knew my speaking lines but completely forgot the lyrics to the song. So for the singing part, what did I do? Sang, the only song that came to mind was the classic Happy Birthday song. Put my own little spin on it and shockingly got the role. What I would like to achieve with my music is to be a great example of an expansive artist. Someone who takes risks and isn't limited to one genre or style to tell my story. I am an unboxable artist.

What do you think is the most important quality for a musician to have? How would you describe your music to someone who hadn’t heard it before?

The most important quality for a musician is knowing who they are as an artist. What you stand for and don't, why you're even doing this. A lost artist makes anything, and passable pop songs no longer work. Music with a message and a narrative is what I'm all about. Because I'm unboxable when it comes to genres, describing my music can be a bit tricky. I guess saying Alternative-Pop would be the best general label since I do some of everything.

What’s next for Robby Monroe? Do you have more new music coming soon?

What's next for me is more music coming. I will drop one more one before my sophomore EP comes out. Very excited to demonstrate a brand new side of Robby Monroe that my fans haven't seen or heard before.
