Canadian artist and singer-songwriter Roelyn Wilde is back with another fire track, this time teaming up with Nic Grhymes for the sultry and electrifying single, "Fast Carrrz."
Hailing from the Greater Toronto Area, Roelyn Wilde has been deeply immersed in music from a young age. Her early exposure to various musical styles and her formal education in Music Industry Arts at Algonquin College laid the groundwork for her evolution into a versatile and dynamic artist who knows how to own a stage.
Wilde has consistently pushed the boundaries of her sound, merging elements of hip-hop, pop, and R&B to create something uniquely her own. The same can be said about her latest single, "Fast Carrrz," taking listeners on a thrilling ride through love and lust featuring the clever bars of Nic Grhymes.
Hitting play on "Fast Carrrz," an ominous and mysterious piano melody lingers through the speakers, making its way in alongside a sweet R&B beat oozing with passion and desire. Roelyn Wilde's lush vocals rain down from above with all sorts of spicy and sensual lyrics, painting vivid pictures of fast cars, fast love, and fast living.
Her belting on the hook is gripping, sending chills down the listener's spine while Nic Grhymes dives into his equally sweltering verse with hot-and-heavy bars. His verse creates this dynamic, back-and-forth experience between Grhymes and Wilde that's impossible to resist. If anything, this makes for the perfect addition to your spicy playlist—if you catch my drift.

Welcome to Buzz, Roelyn! Your latest single, "Fast Carrrz," is honestly captivating. What inspired you to create it, and how did the collaboration with Nic Grhymes come about?
Thank you so much!! I’m super excited to be chatting with you guys!
This track essentially wrote itself! I just realized it’s coming up on exactly two years since I've written it! It was a crazy night – I wrote three songs in 1 night. Nic Grhymes asked me if I could write on 1 of his tracks, ‘All in Stride,’ for his new mixtape and have it ready to record by the next day. We’ve been working together creatively since the very start of our relationship and, more seriously, since 2019. This is our 4th official single together, and can I just say I love his features and LOVE his vocal tone!
So, not only did I finish the feature for him, but I ended up writing 2 more songs back to back that night for my own project – Fast Carrrz & Indelible – both coming up on my 1st album! It’s the first and only time I felt I was channeling something while writing - meaning I swear someone was writing through me, haha! The melodies for all songs came instantly, and the lyrics flowed naturally. It gave me the most euphoric feeling! Something was so different about how I wrote - "Neighbour my body with your soul,” “Oldin’ out without holding out” - who wrote that? That wasn’t my style yet! But now I get a thrill from hidden meanings, and the entire song is filled with them - every single line means something specific to me, even if it sounds so simple to the listener.
"Fast Carrrz" has a vibe that feels both intimate and intense. What was your goal in terms of the song's sound and feel?
I LOVE that you said that! Intimate and intense is exactly how it feels to me! I had no initial goal in terms of where I was going with this track - not with the lyrics nor melodies - it’s really as though it came together all on its own. It seemed to naturally embody intimacy, passion, and thrill, and that’s where it takes me when I sing it - I just feel like my soul escapes temporarily.
You've mentioned that "Fast Carrrz" is one of your favorite singles. What makes it so special to you?
Man, something about how the beat hits me while then joined with the melodies and harmonies - it's a feeling I can't put into words with this track. The energy in the room was so powerful while it was written and imprinted on my soul. I've been obsessed with this track since I wrote it in 2022! It’s the first song of mine that I can actually listen to with others and not cringe haha. I remember Cher saying she can't listen to her own music, and I always understood that, but this track is genuinely one of my favorite songs, and it happens to be mine. That's a strange but wicked feeling!
How does "Fast Carrrz" fit into the larger narrative or theme of your upcoming album, 'triggeRWarning?'
The song is about getting on the other side of traumas and triggers - not letting them hold you back any longer, finally being able to let go, be free, live wholeheartedly, and love deeply, without fear. But in terms of the album theme, conceptually speaking, this song is the least 'triggering' and seems more suited for closing the album, although oddly enough, it likely won’t be placed last on the album! The rest of the tracks so far seem to be more focused and target specific themes/concepts lyrically.
What do you hope listeners experience when hearing "Fast Carrrz?" What do you want them to feel?
First and foremost, I wish everyone could experience this with a crazy subwoofer haha - wildly intense! But truly, I do hope my listeners feel the sense of intimacy, passion, and escapism that I do - that authentic, fierce energy! I want it to take them away on a melodic ride and have them get lost in the moment. Most of all, I just want them to feel good while listening!
