San Diego Based Artist Nondoh Releases “Going Out” An Amazingly Catchy Dance Tune

Nondoh, born Fernando Gomez, is an American producer, musician, drummer and composer who grew up in San Diego, California. At the young age of 9 he began to learn to play the drums, and by the time he was 15, he was performing with a number of different artists and bands ranging from jazz and salsa groups to rock and cover bands. Nondoh began in 2016 as a platform for Gomez’s original music. His debut studio album, “Catharsis”, was released in 2017, and 2018 saw the release of several singles. Currently, he is working on new music for future releases out of his hometown of San Diego.

“Going Out” is a recently released single by Nondoh. This single opens with such a great beat, with a funky groove that will have you dancing in no time. This artist clearly understands what lies behind a great groove, with clear influences of funk, pop and some rock. The electric guitar and synths provide a rich and detailed arrangement that has so much variety. The verses are sparse but also teeming with soothing sultry vocals, and the choruses are catchy as anything and will have you completely drawn in. The entire song is jam packed with hooks, but it’s also broken up by an incredibly unique breakdown of percussion, synths and guitars, showing the true versatility of this young artist. “Going Out” fuses together elements that are both old and new - a funky electric guitar riff, classic synthesizer sounds from the 80s, a simple but powerful beat, and compelling vocals that are superbly executed, the result of which is maybe the catchiest thing you’ll hear all day. We can’t recommend this single enough, and can ensure you’ll have no regrets checking it out!

Thanks so much for catching up with us! So first of all, how did you first become interested in music?

When I was young my parents always had music playing in the house, so with that exposure obviously I fell in love with music! When I was 9 years old I started learning the drums then over time I started learning other instruments like the piano, guitar, bass etc.

Who are your biggest inspirations musically?

For me its James Brown, Quincy Jones, Prince and Michael Jackson.

Can you talk us through what your writing process is like? How does your music actually come together?

I always start with some sort of raw idea, whether it be a melody, bassline, or a chord progression. I take that original idea, record it then ill vibe out and add different elements to it. I have to make sure I LOVE every idea I add and its not just an idea that works, because lots of ideas work, but its the ideas that I fall in love with that always stand out and make it onto my recordings.

How would you describe the music scene in your hometown of San Diego, California?

Its definitely an up and coming music town! There is a lot going on and the music scene is growing more every day! lots of different music... jazz, latin, rock, reggae, r&b, pop, and lots of independent artists working hard on original music! its a big community and everyone inspires each other.. I love it!

What can we hope to see from Nondoh in the future?

More funky jams and possibly live shows! ;)
