Sarah Shafey Hits the Open Road With New Single “Route 25”

LA and Toronto-based artist and producer Sarah Shafey is stepping into a new era with “Route 25,” an atmospheric alternative-pop single that leads the way toward her forthcoming album, By Design, arriving in 2027.
Currently recording By Design alongside Grammy-winning producer Tristan Boston, Sarah Shafey is using the project to explore self-sovereignty, authenticity, and clarity while moving between alternative rock, pop-rock, grunge, and R&B-infused rock.
“Route 25” turns that evolution into a literal journey. Inspired by Sarah Shafey’s move from Toronto to Los Angeles, the track captures the uncertainty and freedom that come with uprooting your life and choosing something bigger for yourself.
A steady nocturnal groove meets soaring vocals and sun-soaked West Coast energy, giving the song the feeling of driving the Pacific Coast Highway with the windows down and the future wide open.
Beneath its cinematic exterior, “Route 25” is ultimately about self-trust. Sarah Shafey traces the transition from feeling untethered to becoming firmly grounded in her own identity, turning the open road into a metaphor for leaving old expectations behind. The result is an empowering track for anyone making a major life change and choosing to rebuild on their own terms.
“Route 25” also arrives as Sarah Shafey expands this chapter beyond the studio. Sarah Shafey recently debuted a new live set backed by an all-female band and is preparing to bring the music to audiences on tour.
As the first introduction to By Design, “Route 25” makes Sarah Shafey’s direction clear: going forward is the only way.
