What was it like growing up in Kelowna and do you think it has influenced your music? How's the local music scene over there? Do you have any artist recommendations for us to check out?

Growing up in Kelowna is pretty amazing and I definitely think it has influenced my music. The local music scene is actually pretty awesome. We have everything from rock to country to pop to R & B. Personally, there is one musician that stands out and that is 21 year old Justin J. Moore. We actually competed against each other in a local competition but then got together and have collaborated and performed together. He had a huge part in “It Ain’t Over” mixing and producing it. Justin is probably one of the most talented musicians I have seen and I am pretty lucky to have him as a friend. A few others like country singer Ben Klick, and rocker Jordan Porteous are awesome as well!

Outside of music, can you give us a glimpse into Scotty Berg’s everyday life? Are there any other interests or projects you want to pursue alongside making music?

Well I am a teenager so right now in the summer it is about sleeping in! I am a pretty active guy. I compete in middle distance running, play basketball, volleyball, golf, and ski in the winter. My family has a boat so we spend lots of time on the lake too. Besides singing, cooking and baking are my favorite things to do. I LOVE looking up and trying new recipes for my family.

Outside of songwriting, what do you enjoy the most about making music? Are there any musical instruments that you play or want to learn?

I just enjoy trying new things out. About a year ago, I didn’t like country music, but just playing around and listening to a few artists, I have really opened up what I like to learn and play. Right now, I play guitar and a bit of piano and those keep me busy!

Who are your major musical influences or role models in the industry that you derive inspiration from?

Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes, Ed Sheeran. Those guys are pretty amazing to listen to and watch. I have also watched some Queen videos with Freddy Mercury. That guy was awesome!
