Welcome to BuzzMusic, Selena Victoria! We loved “Golden Kiss.” It felt like such a perfect summertime vibe! We have to ask, what was the inspiration behind this song?
So good to be back again. Thank you for having me! Always a pleasure. And thank you, Golden Kiss is definitely a personal favorite of mine. The first song I created with this specific music video in mind. The inspiration behind this song and video was to authentically and melodically express the euphoric and blissful emotions we feel when we fall in love. I truly wanted to capture the essence of that magical feeling when everything falls into place. Life is as it should be is perfect and bright. I believe both the track and the music video capture that beautifully. I predominantly use the color yellow as the theme of the track because it symbolizes the bliss, the happiness, and the glow we experience when we find the right person. Something in us shifts in the most beautiful colorful way as all the stars align.
You mentioned that the “Golden Kiss” music video was the first one you shot! What was it like, and what was your favorite part about bringing the video for “Golden Kiss” to life?
With Golden Kiss being my first music video, it was most definitely a nerve-wracking but exciting experience! We shot at Royal Botanical Gardens in Burlington, Ontario, Canada. I truly felt that It was a fantastic location to shoot this music video. With the natural glowing beauty of this scenery, the vibrant colors, and the butterflies, I knew immediately Golden Kiss needed to be filmed here. I truly was on cloud nine. I love nature, and I was beyond thankful and in my ideal state of pure bliss - which, of course, was the goal for the music video, so I think that we captured that perfectly.
You mentioned you’re currently based in Toronto. What’s your favorite part about the music scene there, and how has it influenced you as an artist?
I record my songs in Toronto with some incredibly talented people. I always receive a new sudden spark of inspiration from either the art, the music or just the environment of the city itself. Toronto is a beautiful place to live and an excellent area with its various popular cafes, restaurants, culture, and diversity. There are truly special and amazing moments captured when you’re in Toronto.
What motivates you to make music? What’s your favorite part about making music?
What motivates me is my passion for music are my loyal and dedicated fans. No matter how much time has passed, they remain so true to me and get excited every time a new song releases. I’ve always loved music, and it will always be my passion, but knowing there are others out there who genuinely enjoy my music as much as I do, if not more. My amazing fans dedicate these beautiful fan edits/accounts to me and it is something I am truly grateful for. Creating music itself is such a wonderful and inspiring experience, but when you have that loyal fan base that anticipates your next move - it makes it all the more exciting.
What’s next for Selena Victoria? Do you have any big plans for the rest of 2023?
What’s next is an exciting, outspoken new single - the second last track off my album Sweet Poison and the song is called “Dancin’ On My Own.” It is a self-love, self-empowerment anthem that truly resonates with where I am in life, and I believe it's something we all need to feel and hear more of. Choosing yourself and loving yourself first is essential to your life growth. Becoming the best version of yourself is not an easy experience, but that’s the beauty of it. When you choose to put yourself first, you advance in so many ways that prepare you for various amazing opportunities in life - and loving yourself should always be first.
