Selena Victoria Polutnik is an extremely gifted singer-songwriter from Hamilton and Toronto, Ontario. Her passion for music began at an extremely young age when she began singing at various Charity events and later on began writing and producing her own tracks with major producers around Toronto who recognized her gift.

Selena has achieved many milestones so far in her career, including a radio interview on iHeart Ratio back in 2019. Her passion and drive for her craft are undeniable, as she crafts beautiful songs filled with captivating melodies and lyrics directly from the heart. Selena is not slowing down anytime soon, and we can’t wait to see what comes next from this rising talent.

When her vocals kick in in the first verse, we are met with a soft and intimate tone as Selena sets the scene with her imagery-infused lyrics. Intriguing percussive and productions elements build slowly and bring us towards her full-bodied and catchy chorus. She shows off her vocal abilities throughout the song and especially throughout the bridge, where she gracefully belts out her emotions with the ease of a pro.

Welcome to BuzzMusic, Selena Victoria. We are so happy to have you here celebrating your latest release, "Fortune Teller." Can you tell us a bit about the inspiration behind "Fortune Teller?"

Fortune Teller is about a toxic love dynamic. One that consumes you in every way possible, yet you seem to always come back for more. It's a toxic relationship in which you want to see the good in someone, and you hope for a happy ending, but that's not always the case. But for me specifically, this song defines that believing in the good in others - even if they've wronged you - is still a beautiful thing. It's a gift—an admirable trait.

Your love and passion for music and performing are extremely apparent in your music. Do you remember where your love for music all began and who some of your inspirations were growing up?

Music has always been my passion since I was a young girl. I've been singing my entire life. Its always been the comfort I needed and the creative outlet I had to truly be my most authentic self. I've known the importance of this gift since I was a kid. Many of my inspirations range from Selena Quintanilla - whom I was named after to Kelly Clarkson, Mariah Carey, and Taylor Swift, amongst many, many others. Saying music is my passion is an understatement. It saved me from multiple different circumstances in my life and has always given me the purpose to continue.

What sort of atmosphere and vibe did you want the instrumentals and production to give off in "Fortune Teller?" Who helped bring the sonics to life?

The intention behind creating Fortune Teller was definitely to be a beautiful melody that helps to lift the story and the meaning behind the song. For this track, I had the absolute pleasure of working with two amazing individuals: Andre Kaden Black and Jonathan Karkar - who helped produce the track. As well as Brian Melo and Paul Stephens, who actually helped cowrite and create this beautiful song. They are all such talented artists, and it was such a pleasure to collaborate with each of them.

Did you have a specific idea in mind for you who hoped this song would resonate the most? What do you hope listeners will take away from this song while hearing it for the first time?

I've always said I want to be a voice for others. That remains true. Every person has experienced heartbreak or toxic love in one way or another. I wanted this song to provide that sense of comfort for those who struggle with the heartbreak of ANY kind. My main focus for the song was a toxic love dynamic based on my situation; however, it can definitely be applied to various other situations.

What's next for you?

What's next is more music, the release of a few radio interviews, and discussion topics such as mental health, specifically OCD. I've just recently opened up about my personal struggles with OCD, as it is a genetic component in my family's bloodline. In more ways than one, I have always wanted to be a voice for others. Being honest and open about my struggles is a way in which I hope I can help someone else out there who may be dealing with the same issues. My new single, "Golden Kiss," releases next month, and I'm super excited for everyone to hear it! It's an amazing track that I'm 100% positive people will love to hear. It's fun, upbeat, light-hearted, and a beautiful summer track to add to your playlist. I'm very proud of this one.
