“Serenade Me” is a Relatable Love Song by Simone

Serenade Me” by Simone is not your typical electro-pop song. This track is part of Simone’s 5 song EP called “To Be Honest,” the rest of which is scheduled to be released in March 2020. Simone is a 15-year-old singer and songwriter from New York City who has been performing her original music since she was a mere 11 years old! She has since been performing internationally, and in 2017 she released her first EP “Stories in My Mind” and 2 more singles which were all produced by Russ DeSalvo. Simone’s EP “To Be Honest” was produced by Brooklyn’s Danny Ross, which includes her song “Serenade Me.” This original song is about the relatable struggles of jealousy and relationships that people face every day.

Simone has an angelic voice that echoes during the harmonious chorus. She introduces new sounds in the backtrack, which gives the song its personality. The indie, electronic-pop tone is comparable to the likes of Lennon Stella and Halsey. Lyrically, she sings about the fact that her love interest is with the wrong person. She brings attention to the fact that they are unhappy and should make the moves to get with her; hence “Serenade Me.” The track is easy for listeners to enjoy because of the light and romantic tone; it will hit you in the feels and make you want to dance all at the same time. The pop/indie, vulnerable and personal style of music that “Serenade Me” brings is a glimpse of what is to come in the future from Simone.

Welcome to BuzzMusic! What's the story behind "Simone"?

I'm a 15 year old singer-songwriter born & raised in New York City. I've had a passion for music since I was just a toddler. On my 10th birthday, when my parents gifted me a guitar, my passion started to grow and become more serious. I started to write & play my songs live: my first open mic was in Nashville when I was 11, and then multiple solo gigs around NYC since. I ultimately want my music to connect with people of all ages, and I also want to continue to use songwriting as an outlet of creativity and a source of joy.

You have some huge accomplishments under your belt at such a young age, congrats! Tell us what it was like to work with Russ DeSalvo on your EP 'Stories In My Mind'?

Recording “Stories in My Mind” was my first experience recording in a studio that wasn’t my parents closet! As cheesy as it sounds, it was really a dream come true. Watching songs that I wrote in my bedroom come to life like they did with Russ was a feeling I will never forget. In my head it was like, “Oh wow. This is real. This is happening. This is what I want to do for the rest of my life.”

We really enjoyed your single “Serenade Me”. How would you describe your creative process behind this record and what was it like working with Danny Ross of Cheap Synths to make your vision come to life?

“Serenade Me” was so different from anything I had released previously, so it was really exciting to show people how I was growing as an artist and a songwriter. Going into the studio with Danny, I genuinely had no idea how the song was gonna sound fully produced. As a reference before the session, I played “Love” by Lana Del Rey, which if you listen to, is a slow and emotional ballad - so nothing like how “Serenade Me” turned out. But I could not be happier with the final result of the song, and the response from everyone was amazing.

What inspired you to write “Serenade Me"?

I started writing “Serenade Me” the day after I went to a concert. I had a pretty intense interest in one of the people that played that night, I had written some songs about them in the past, but none that completely translated what I was feeling. I was so happy when I finished writing “Serenade Me” because it said everything I wanted to say. The reason I was so interested in this person was because of their voice, and deep down it was as simple as me just wanting them to sing to me.

What can we expect to see from you throughout 2020?

I’m so excited for what's to come this year! I’m in the process
