Boston-based Haitian-American artist Shaney Poo is introducing listeners to the world of his forthcoming album Welcome To The New World with the release of its lead single, “New World Bounce.” Blending Afro-Caribbean rhythms, Hip-Hop, Pop, and East African Singeli influences, the track serves as a bold statement of artistic identity and cultural connection.

Written and produced by Shaney Poo alongside Tanzanian Singeli producer iiddy Classic, the song showcases an artist unafraid to build bridges between sounds, communities, and experiences.

From its opening moments, “New World Bounce” lives up to its title. Driven by relentless percussion, infectious energy, and dance-floor-ready momentum, the track creates a vibrant sonic landscape that feels both expansive and deeply personal. Rather than simply pulling from multiple genres, Shaney Poo crafts a sound that reflects his own multicultural perspective, transforming diverse influences into something cohesive and uniquely his own.

The song also serves as a mission statement for the larger world of Welcome To The New World. At its core, “New World Bounce” is about release; letting go of stress, limitations, and the weight of everyday life. That message extends into the accompanying visual, which imagines a space where joy, movement, and human connection take priority over the pressures that often define modern living.

What makes the release particularly effective is its authenticity. The cultural influences never feel forced or performative. Instead, they operate as natural extensions of Shaney Poo's identity and artistic vision. The result is a record that feels celebratory without sacrificing substance, balancing escapism with a deeper message about freedom and self-expression.

Beyond his own music, Shaney Poo continues to play an important role within Boston's creative community through his work with B.L.A.C Pop Music and Show & Tell Boston, helping spotlight emerging voices and expand opportunities for local artists.

With “New World Bounce,” Shaney Poo delivers an energetic and optimistic preview of what's to come. If this single is any indication, Welcome To The New World is shaping up to be his most ambitious project yet.

"New World Bounce" brings together Haitian, African, Jamaican, Hip-Hop, and Pop influences. How did your cultural background shape the sound and vision behind this song? My cultural background definitely played a role in putting this song together. Growing up in a Haitian family, I was exposed to all types of Caribbean and African music. Haitian music has similarities to other Caribbean and African sounds, so I'm naturally drawn to these types of vibes. My culture helped shape the vision for this song because I grew up with most of these influences already. For me, it was about putting the right voices and people together exactly where they belonged.

Your upcoming album is titled Welcome To The New World. What does the "New World" represent for you personally, and what can listeners expect from this new era of music? The meaning of "New World" has many layers to it. Personally, it feels like a mindset shift. I had many experiences over the past couple of years that changed my outlook on creativity, life, and love. When I started the album, I was getting heavy into the fashion world. I was exposed to a new environment, and it helped me make better music. On top of that, the "New World" is a feeling that each track on the album gives you. It sounds like I'm mixing genres from all around the world together on one project. What the listeners can expect is a trip around the world and back, lots of energy with smooth and danceable tracks for everyone.

You worked with Tanzanian Singeli producer iiddy Classic on this release. What drew you to Singeli music, and how did that collaboration help push your sound into new territory? Real talk, linking up with iiddy Classic was like a blessing from God. I first discovered Singeli music from watching a documentary. They were talking about Tanzania and its music culture, but when they started talking about Singeli, I was immediately in awe of how complex, fun, and fast the music was. It reminded me of the Dancehall music I grew up listening to, but only 10x faster!! I started listening to it just for fun and playing it for my family, but when I discovered iidyy Classic online, I knew I had to track him and build with him. Working with iiddy Classic pushed me into a new world because it provided a new spark and brought me back to the type of vibe I love.

Beyond being an artist, you've played a major role in Boston's creative community through B.L.A.C Pop Music and Show & Tell Boston. How has building opportunities for other artists influenced your own creative journey? Creating Show & Tell Boston has been the greatest unexpected blessing ever. It started as a room of artists who just wanted to share their work with each other, and now it's transformed into a podcast, community platform, a business, and a place where anyone can come and feel like family. It's helped transform my city, bring people together for something positive, and it gives artists a place to showcase their talents. It's influenced me by making me more humble; it showed me how to use my light and resources to shine it on others and create opportunities for my community.

"New World Bounce" feels like an invitation to let go of stress and embrace joy. In a world that can often feel overwhelming, what do you hope listeners take away from the song after hearing it for the first time? I hope they take away exactly what you said, JOY! Sometimes we forget music is supposed to make us feel good and dance. I want the world to let go of the stress and feel joy from my music. If I'm helping put smiles on people's faces and getting them to dance again, then I've done a part of my job. This album is about feeling brand new, and New World Bounce is definitely accomplishing that.
