Born and bred in Chicago, gifted hip-hop artist, Dolly’s less than stellar circumstances led him to move to Las Vegas with his family in his teen years. When he realized his passion for music, he was able to curate his dreams into reality. He began dropping mixtape after mixtape and is currently working towards becoming the hip-hop legend of Sin City. Dolly is definitely the future of the new rap culture in the state of Nevada. He brings an energizing stage presence, similar to the way he delivers every bar with passion and soul. His lyrics dive into real-life struggles and true experiences. His music feels authentically human and easily accessible to listeners from all walks of life.
This year brought much success to Dolly, he released his singles “Caution”, “Hustle Hard”, “Undefeated”, and most recently “Blood Diamonds”. Not only has he been steadily releasing new content, but Dolly announced his upcoming full-length album “The New Gospel” set for release late 2019! Dolly is absolutely an artist worth keeping your eyes on as he’s always bringing new music to the table. Welcome back to BuzzMusic Dolly! It’s such a pleasure to be catching up with you! You’ve had an impressive year, to say the least. What accomplishment are you most proud of thus far?
First, I would like to say thank you for everything that you're doing for the independent artists, definitely appreciated! 2019 has been filled with nothing but blessings. Learning more about what it takes to be a successful artist in today's Industry. One of my biggest accomplishments besides traveling to do shows was going to New York to speak with label reps. Dreaming of things like this an actually seeing it come true is one of the greatest feelings.
With a few years of making music under your belt, we would have to imagine your sound has changed and evolved with time. How would you say your music now compares to the music you curated when you first started out in the music industry?
Music has always been life for me so putting words together always came easy. When I first started rapping my name was Dolly "TheMadMan" everything was aggressive and direct. Not long after that, I removed "TheMadMan" and just kept my last name. No aliases, everything you hear is Authentic! The music now has more meaning.
Your new release on Youtube “Directors Cut Freestyle (DISS)” is incredible! What can you tell us about this release?
We all have "haters" I'm just glad I can express myself through my music! When you know how to adapt the rest comes easy.
We absolutely love the music you’ve been putting out this year. What predominant message was integrated within "Blood Diamonds"?
It's been a lot of bloodshed over diamonds throughout time. From rappers to actors we see it every day! The price of fame can be deadly.
You seem to be an artist that puts more thought into their lyrics than most. What can you tell us about the lyrical depth within “Undefeated”?
I enjoy playing with words and pushing myself to be a better artist. With every song comes new ways to push the bar! It's the same process for every song.
