You've truly left us feeling refreshed and rejuvenated with the release of your passionate single, "Easy." What inspired this song's lyricism based on leaving your woes behind and starting anew?
You’re far too kind; I feel like a bottle of Sprite or something with all the refreshing vibes. It sort of came together that way but looking back to when it was written in November 2020 I was just coming out of a several-month bout with undiagnosed epilepsy that landed me in the hospital, so I think that’s part of it. Also, I as well as I’m sure many others, have struggled with the “who am I?” crisis a few times in life, and we liked the idea of forgetting all of that stuff.
Why did you choose to keep the instrumentals for "Easy" rather minimal and gentle? How does this sonic landscape enhance your tender lyricism?
It just felt like the right thing to do with this one.
Did you work completely solo when formulating your lyrics and instrumentation for "Easy"? Or did you collaborate with anyone along the way?
Easy was Co-written and produced by the amazingly talented Jole’. He’s an incredible songwriter/producer and multi-instrumentalist. We were introduced to each other by our publishing company back in 2019, where we met and co-wrote “Get Well Soon” together. For this new song, he was in England and I in L.A. So we hopped on a Zoom call, started strumming chords and bouncing ideas off of each other. I love working with Jole’ because the songs just seem to create themselves naturally.
Seeing that you've graced our speakers with passionate and heartfelt tunes on various occasions, might we hear an upcoming album or EP from you in the near future?
I’ve been secretly messing around with a side project-type thing for a while that may see daylight sometime. My second love is hip hop, unbeknownst to most. So I have a bit of a vault of that built up as well. But as far as another TylerAllred e.p. It’s definitely overdue and in the works.
What's next for you?
I just woke up, so probably coffee. After that, it’s anybody’s guess. I have a few shows in L.A. in September, so I’m pretty excited about that.
