Spotlight: Lu! Embraces the Fine Balance Between Polarizing Emotions

Born in Taipei, Taiwan, and raised in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, aspiring artist Lu! now resides in London where he is cultivating his career as a singer-songwriter. Bringing his fans music made for sunrises, sunsets, and late nights, the young musician fuses nostalgic flavors from various genres including R&B, Pop, Hip-hop, and Alternative. Inspired by the laid-back melodic flows made famous by artists such as Frank Ocean, The Weeknd, and Brent Faiyaz, Lu! aims to find the perfect middle ground between happy/peppy songs and emo/sad songs. Following in these legendary artists’ footsteps, he writes his lyrics about real issues instead of filling the audio space with empty words. Lu! is set to release his debut EP in late July along with another single, giving fans another Alternative R&B sonic experience to look forward to.

In a recent interview with BuzzMusic, Lu! recounts his intended message to the listener from his last release “Watching Our Steps.” When describing his hopes for the track’s interpretations he stated, “I hope they absorb the message that it's ok to think and act independently while also accepting that not everyone will end up understanding that. I also hinted at misinformed public opinions. One line demonstrates this perfectly: 'I cannot add water to the wine, or they'll be no wine left, I can't understand why they are lying, they got a smartphone but a dumbass'”
