Starleen Pushes Electronic Pop Into New Territory on Evolution // Rebirth

Dallas experimental electronic duo Starleen steps into a new era with their debut album, Evolution // Rebirth, a dark, immersive release that explores the tension between human emotion and an increasingly digital world.
The album draws on alt electro pop, IDM, dance, and darkwave while refusing to settle comfortably into any one lane. Instead, Starleen builds a deliberately unstable atmosphere. Glitch-heavy percussion collides with distorted synths, cinematic textures, and ethereal vocals, creating a record that feels as psychological as it does electronic.
That unease is part of the point. Evolution // Rebirth circles themes of modernity, identity, personal freedom, technological alienation, and the complicated process of becoming something new. The project has a futuristic quality throughout, but Starleen never sacrifices emotion for experimentation.
“Modernity” is one of the album’s clearest examples. Psychedelic synth movement and fractured electronic production create a disorienting backdrop that feels caught somewhere between physical reality and digital overload. Elsewhere, the title track expands that world visually. Its accompanying music video has been selected for the Dallas International Film Festival this October, continuing Starleen’s growing connection between music and visual art.
Formed after meeting in a high school music theory class, Starleen have spent years developing their sound independently from a home studio. Previous projects Life Is Strange and To Give In, alongside singles like “Let Me Go” and “Replica,” laid the groundwork, but Evolution // Rebirth feels like the duo committing fully to their most ambitious instincts yet.
For listeners tired of electronic music playing it safe, Starleen offers something stranger, darker, and far more interesting.
