Welcome to BuzzMusic, Veronna! Congratulations on releasing your latest single, "The Best Is Yet To Come." We love the twist that comes from this remix! What was it like working with Lady Blackice to bring this rendition forth?

Me and DJ Lady Blackice went to college together, but we had lost sight of each other since. At the beginning of last year, we saw each other, and it was just so fun! We had not seen each other since the end of our music studies in 2014. I remembered that, at the time, she was already super talented in music production, and after having heard her most recent remixes, I wanted to work with her. The song rearrangement was done remotely, but the communication flowed very well with her. It was all natural!

We think it's extremely clever how you renamed the title of this track when rereleasing it. What prompted this approach, and how did you know this was the song you wanted to remix?

I renamed the song (which was first called "The Past Is The Past") because after sharing it with my fans, it was the part "The Best Is Yet To Come" that stuck in their minds, which is the hook at the end of the chorus. And the public is always right! I had self-produced the song in summer of 2022, and this version was rather folk-pop, but I was not 100% satisfied. I needed an even more mainstream version, hence the idea of making an electronic remix and working with Lady Blackice. I believe that the public will appreciate this new, more modern version even more!

With musical influences like Adele, Elton John, Queen, Sam Smith, Donna Summer, and Ella Fitzgerald, how do you find they inspire the sound you've made for yourself?

These artists have greatly influenced my way of singing because I have studied them a lot since I was a teenager. All of them also use the piano a lot as a base in their songs, which I also do. On the musical composition side, they are pros of catchy choruses, so without wanting to, I think I am too!

How is the creative process different from creating an original song to creating a remix?

The song was already all composed and recorded. For me, most of the work was done. I just needed to send all my instrumental and vocal tracks to Lady Blackice, and she really did the heavy lifting in changing the sounds there. I gave her some inspirational ideas, but the remix is really the result of her artistic sense. She only kept my original vocals and the piano and redid the rest of the arrangement. Most of the time, I am the one creating the background music too, so it was nice to have someone else do it and bring her own flavor to the song.

What's next for you?

I am a singer first and always will be, but I want to get more seriously into music production, both for my own songs and for those of other artists. I love writing music so much, and I love to collaborate, so I would like to do this even more than last year. I also hope to do more shows and maybe even go on tour! Time will tell. First project: a week's vacation in Cancun with my best friend in mid-January. It will surely inspire me for the new year!
