For those who've tasted love's sweetness and felt its bitter sting, The Honest Poet's sophomore EP, 'Love Complexity,' speaks directly to your soul. With soulful vocals and raw, honest lyrics, the South Wales-based singer-songwriter offers a heartfelt and unfiltered journey into the complex world of love.

Drawing from a diverse array of influences ranging from Sam Cooke to J. Cole, The Honest Poet seamlessly blends elements of R&B, soul, hip hop, and spoken word to craft a distinctive sound that evokes comparisons to artists like Ady Sulieman and Dermot Kennedy.

With ‘Love Complexity,’ he ventures into darker thematic territory, diverging from the romantic narratives of his debut album (Letters To My Queen), which intricately tells the love story of The Honest Poet and his fiancé.

Collaborating with fellow Welsh artist and producer MINAS, The Honest Poet shapes a musical landscape that perfectly complements the EP's emotional depth. 'Love Complexity' is a fearless exploration of the intricate dynamics of love, with each track delving into a different aspect of this complex emotion.

From the raw depiction of domestic abuse in ‘Toxic City’ to the poignant portrayal of the complexities of being a 'side-chick' in ‘Suffocated,’ The Honest Poet's lyrics navigate the tumultuous terrain of relationships with raw emotion and unfiltered honesty. This emotional depth invites listeners to confront the multifaceted nature of love in its rawest form.

Of the EP, he said, “Minas has helped me sculpt an identity musically. The creative process of this project (like my album) has been a mixture of me sending little ideas vocally and samples that I chopped up and, occasionally, going into the studio. With the EP, he understood that it was more of an emotional project. The atmospheric piano input and the sounds used help amplify.”

The Honest Poet’s latest venture resonates with a broader audience and proudly embraces its Welsh roots. The EP’s focus track, ‘No Good,’ features the compelling spoken word poet Rowen Brittany's unmistakable Welsh accent, adding a distinct flavor and immersing listeners in the region's cultural richness. The synergy between. Coupled with the skillful production from MINAS, ‘Love Complexity’ emerges as a formidable collection of songs that further solidify Wales as a vibrant hub of musical creativity.

Of ‘No Good,’ The Honest Poet says, “’ No Good’ is a breakup song about heartache. This song is the most atmospheric one, featuring a spoken-word poet named Rowen Brittany. I chose her because of her raw approach to her writing style and delivery."
