"Top Down," Has a Flair of its Own Served Up by Mirko Chardin and Gideon Valor

Multi-talented emcee Mirko Chardin serves up major vibes in his latest single, "Top Down," featuring Gideon Valor. Based out of Boston and reigning from the Hip-hop collective, Antioch Alumni, Mirko Chardin takes no breaks as he also serves as the Founding Head of School of the Putnam Avenue Upper School in Cambridge, MA and is the co-author of the bestselling book Equity by Design: Delivering on the Power and Promise of UDL.

As a teenager, Mirko Chardin made his first appearance as an artist on the label 5Star Entertainment before joining the Hip-hop collective known as Antioch Alumni in 2003. Whether alongside his fellow Antioch Alumni emcees or on his own as a solo artist, Mirko Chardin is a prolific emcee to watch. With his latest single "Top Down," perhaps being his most powerful to date, he makes his mark as a gifted up and comer in the music industry.

"Top Down" is a single which follows Mirko Chardin's previous solo releases, "Righteous Hypocrite," "The Grey Album," and "Unhealthy Societies." We have immediately transported to an old school 90s Hip-hop ambiance with the soft yet heavy instrumentation that the beat delivers through our speakers. The clear and present delivery from Mirko Chardin showcases his remarkable lyricism and ability to treat the beat as a canvas to which he adds his artistic touches by using his unique choice of words as an instrument.

This song features Hip-hop artist Gideon Valor, and we get a chance to hear his artistic abilities on the second verse with his knack for wordplay and present delivery. Together, the two deliver a message of grinding hard towards better days as they take advantage of the time that they are already given by living their best life. These two are a force to be reckoned with as a dynamic duo that takes us on a sonic voyage with the tops down on our cars driving with the wind in our hair. Mirko Chardin shows a lot of promise as he establishes himself as a top emcee.

Hello Mirko, welcome to BuzzMusic, and congratulations on the release of, “Top Down.” How did the collaboration between you and Gideon Valor come to be?

Thank you! Gideon and I have worked together for years and are the founding MCee's that create the underground hip-hop collective known as "Antioch Alumni". We were the best known for our annual Cram Session project, which was always written and recorded over the course of a 72hr all-nighter.

With a powerful message being transported through your lyrics, what does “Top Down,” mean to you?

For me "Top Down" is all about acknowledging how challenging this year has been, while at the same time realizing that it's time to get back to the grind. We are much more resilient than what this year has thrown at us and it's time to celebrate and move forward.

What would you like listeners to take away from this record?

That it's relevant, feel-good music with a dope beat and deep and meaningful lyrics

How was the creative process different on, “Top Down,” from your other singles?

This track wrote itself. The words, vibe, and vision all came together at the same time. It births itself into this universe, we were just the vessels it chose to reveal itself through.

What can we expect to see next from you?

More hot and relevant music. Check out my previous projects too. Check out my bestselling book "Equity by Design" and follow me on IG: @milkmirko
