Trip grew up in Vernon, Florida and he began publicly rapping after his brother was incarcerated in 2012. Bringing more to the table then solely just rap, Trip speaks knowledge and pushes self-motivation. So we decided to take a listen to his song “Things For Granted”.
When the song began playing, I instantly knew this would have a substantial meaning behind it. The melodic beat sets the tone for a melancholic vibe. The delivery from Trip and the passion in his voice shows off a real and natural aesthetic. The lyrics were vulnerable, thought-provoking, and straight-forward. Trip strips away the tough-guy rapping image to give us something that’s emotionally moving and heart-rendering. He becomes more than a rapper. He becomes a voice of reason and his message could connect with many people from similar backgrounds as him. This was super dope to me. I liked how it presented us a real true artist. Someone who isn’t afraid to be authentic. Someone who also isn’t afraid of reaching out, and helping others through their music. Trip is going to become a groundbreaking success undeniably! And if he doesn’t? Well that’s just one flaw of the music industry and the GP!

What’s up Trip! How was your upbringing? How did growing up in Florida affect your music?
My lifestyle was literally what I made it. My parents never let me hurt for anything I was rebellious though. I always wanted to be my own man and take care of myself and as soon as I got a car I was gone. I stayed on the road trying to make my own. When my brother got locked up that’s what took the longest time to get over. The transition when mom and pops wasn’t together exposed me to a lot. Growing up in Florida just really brands what you speak about. I can only speak about my area on a understanding level because I know what’s goin on in my area.
Who would you consider a few of your inspirations and your reason to keep striving in your career?
I got a lot of people who inspire me. From my pops , to my mom , to my brothers , my kids , anybody truly involved in what I am doing because everyday I think about who I can’t let down.
“Things For Granted” seems to have a strong lyrical meaning behind it. Whose better to detail it for us than the man himself who created it!? Mind telling us a bit about the theme in “Things For Granted” Trip?
Things For granted was wrote mainly talking to myself. I tend to overthink sometimes. So I put all my problems in perspective and focused on the fact that god got me and I won’t go through nothing I can’t handle. The hook is really the motivation part the verses are struggle.
What was the most challenging emotion you had to channel in while creating this?
Believe it or not it was a breeze. This subject really touched daily thoughts. I felt like it was something relatable about it and it just came together smoothly.
