TYG is a Dublin based singer-songwriter that since an early age with a guitar has been writing his own music. Since being active in the music scene in his early teens, TYG has performed regularly around Dublin, attained a diploma in songwriting, and is now full steam ahead in recording and releasing his original music.
TYG released his debut single, “Search for Freedom” and we are in love. Instantly while listening we felt ourselves dreaming in the green rolling hills of the country. The duet like performance here has such a beautiful homey vibe to it that makes us feel right at peace while listening. This is one of those tunes that we can hear happening over so many scenarios and makes it a perfect addition to your listening catalog. The positive message of searching for freedom in life is one that will be able to resonate deeply with a lot of listeners, combined with TYG’s amazing melody writing and storytelling. “Search for Freedom” makes for a fun tune that makes us feel right at home. “Search for Freedom” features an acoustic guitar, a heavy kick drum, and then the beautiful vocal performances from the background singers and TYG himself; this record doesn’t need much to have an impact on our lives and we think that everyone would be able to pull apart something they enjoy from it.
Listen to “Search for Freedom” here.

Hello TYG! Welcome to BuzzMusic! Your latest release “Search for Freedom” has a beautiful little vibe to it with amazing vocal performances. Who are the background singers in this? What was it like to record with them? Elina Felicia a close friend and hugely talented vocalist recorded the backing vocals on the track. Elina is always an absolute pleasure to work with, we have great musical chemistry and being close friends recording together felt effortless.
The storytelling of this release speaks about searching for freedom in life, how does this message connect with you? What had inspired the songwriting?
For me, freedom is about having the freedom within and externally to follow your dreams in life. I always knew I wanted to record and release my own music, at times it felt out of reach though due to the constraints of my situation at particular times. Searching for freedom to me is about ridding myself of the unnecessary shackles in life and following what my heart truly desires.
The song was inspired by feeling constrained amid the daily trappings of life. The daily routine can so easily overtake everything else which can make freedom so difficult to find at times. I wrote it at a time when I knew what I truly wanted to be doing but it seemed very far away, that's why I feel so blessed that today I have the opportunity to release my own music. Dublin has quite an amazing entertainment scene happening, how has being in that area helped inspired and shape the music you are creating? Have you ever wanted to try writing music elsewhere? Dublin has so much live music and with that, at my doorstep, it has always been a perfect place to practice my live performance I've learned so much from songwriters and Singers I've met whilst playing around, Dublin is teaming with talent. I plan on playing abroad and writing abroad as much as possible. The world is very big and full of so much life, there's so much out there to experience and I suppose experience is the greatest inspiration any songwriter can have.
We heard that you have been working on recording an album, that’s exciting to hear! How has that process been so far? What kinds of challenges have you faced during the creation?
Bringing my songs into a studio and then hearing them played in their completion is such a fulfilling feeling, I have been very lucky that I have great musicians around me to help, the process of recording my songs has been and continues to be magical to me. Releasing my first album will be a very special moment for me and everyone involved.
I still have so much to learn when it comes to recording, songwriting comes somewhat naturally to me, the recording process is definitely a skill unto itself. The arrangement of other instruments, the production side of the track are all learning curves. I write my songs with simply me and my guitar so when I go into a studio with a full band it challenges me in new ways, new ways that help me grow as a songwriter and as a recording artist.
