Writer's picture: BUZZ LABUZZ LA

Tyler Kuhner is a 27-year-old country-rock artist who has been making music from Chillicothe, Ohio for over a decade. After trying his hand in various rock bands throughout his teen years and early twenties, Tyler Kuhner made the move to a solo country-rock act. Inspired by acts like Bon Jovi, Bruno Mars, Nick Jonas, Florida Georgia Line, Thomas Rhett, and many more, Tyler aspires to spread his authentic sound and relate to audiences everywhere with his original music.

Tyler currently has two country-rock singles out now entitled “Love Like This” and “Static”. We had the pleasure of checking out “Static” and we are hooked! You can trust in high volumes for this entire record, classically rooted country vibes pour through organically and honestly, gritty yet blissfully melodic, and all the while these hard-hitting and compelling scenes and thoughts fill the room around you. From softness to weight, calm to chaos, Tyler Kuhner utilizes every element involved in order to craft something artistically relevant to the song’s underlying concept. “Static” is a song that takes full advantage of contrast and builds up through its various sections in a manner that feels perfectly united to the sentiments in the writing. We love what Tyler Kuhner brings to the table with “Static” and we can’t wait to hear what’s next!

Welcome to BuzzMusic Tyler Kuhner! We love your authentic sound. How did you first get started making music when you were young? Was your childhood rich with musical influence?

Music has always been a big part of my life. I began playing guitar at 14 years old self taught and picked up other instruments to such as Bass Guitar, Drums etc.

Growing up I listened to all music. I have a wide variety of music I listen to. I’ve always been the biggest Bon Jovi fan but I listen to everything from Elvis to Thomas Rhett, Bruno Mars to Nick Jonas. I also enjoy harder rock such as the band Nothing More.

“Static” is a great track! How would you introduce the sound, style, and intention of this release?

“Static” has a more modern country sound to it. It has a country/rock style with big guitars, great lead play and a roll your window down sing along hook. After writing this song I felt like it was a song everyday people could relate too. It’s a concept that you haven’t heard yet lyrically.

When you get started crafting a new track, how do you decide what to write about and in which direction to take things?

I am a very observant person and pay close attention to detail. I try and stay in tune with the world around me and that helps with subject matter. I also typically write songs based on stories of my life or those around me. I like to write songs that everyday people can relate to, take the song and make it their song.

We're incredibly excited to be featuring your newest song "Static"! Tell us about the recording process, and how the overall curative process was for this record?

“Static” is a very special song to me because it’s a song that I Co-Wrote with my brother before he passed away November 12th, 2017. His name was Tristan Miller. The song was written lyrically and had the chord progression to go with it into the studio. The rest was built during the session from myself and my producer Will Carlson.

Thanks for chatting with us Tyler! How do you think "Static" compares to your first release? How do you think your overall sound has progressed?

They both have their own unique sound. “Love Like This” is more country/pop where “Static” is more country/rock. But they give me the freedom to continue to express myself in different ways and grow as an artist. I think it has progressed a lot and has come a long way. However, there’s always more room for improvement and I’m excited for what’s next.
