Warmth And Melancholy Unite In Loose Bolts’ Latest Single “This Is Goodbye”

Loose Bolts is a talented singer, songwriter, producer, engineer, and multi-instrumentalist. A Baton Rouge native, currently residing in the Florida panhandle between Tallahassee and Pensacola, Loose Bolts initially was a side project amidst a long-winded stint drumming for a metal band. Around this same time, Gomez played drums for a Folk/Surf Punk act known as The Pistachios. After releasing the 4 song "Discontent" EP in the summer of 2015 and a short tour with his Metal band, Gomez decided to take this project more seriously once it became clear that his songwriting and passion had impacted his local scene in a way that was more about connecting with others, as opposed to any other musical agenda. All things considered, 2019 has been the most prolific year for Gomez’s musical life and it appears that he is only really just getting started.

“This Is Goodbye” is Loose Bolts latest single, the instrumentation behind the words rises expressively and powerfully. “This Is Goodbye” is connected at every step to the underlying sentiments and intentions of the song. As “This Is Goodbye” progresses, we are taken through the various stages of learning and looking back, meandering from optimism to error, from hope to pain, from joy to guilt. Ultimately the song calls for the listener to break free, to be content as an individual. Personal reflections meet with broader poetic references to create something that easily relates to just about anyone who knows what love and loss mean. “This Is Goodbye” builds up in a perfectly emotional manner, all the way through until it's a beautifully chaotic breaking point. A powerful and timeless track that brings together purity and pain from the depths of the human experience. We can’t wait to hear more from Loose Bolts!

Welcome to BuzzMusic! In your own words, what does “This Is Goodbye” represent for you?

-Thanks for having me. Glad to be here!

Well saying goodbye can be so painful, but it can also feel so good. I think the song sort of tells a story of a shift in perspective in regards to a relationship with another person. At first it may hurt, but if it's what's best, then you will know it in the end. I think a person of any age can use that sort of reminder from time to time.

What emotions did you channel when writing this song?

It was definitely a mixed bag. The music came first. The moment I had the first progression and started trying to sing over it, I had a pretty strong hunch as to what feeling it was trying to communicate. I was mostly upset and angry, and felt that my actions, or lack thereof, were misunderstood by the person I had in mind.

What do you hope people take away from this release?

I'm always hoping to inspire or to be inspirational in some way, but hopefully a feeling of comfort at the least. Comfort and acceptance of your own feelings towards a person or a situation. Just let it happen.

Who or what would you say inspires or influences you the most musically?

That's a tough question to answer. After I released my first EP in 2015, I started to develop this vision of like... Combining the more unique or overlooked aspects that I see in some of my favorite artists. In a broad sense, I really appreciate other artists who are able to stay in touch with their own perspective on other people's visions. It's the only way to really do anything new or interesting conceptually in this day and age. I could be wrong, but I have a feeling that I'm onto something there.

What are your main aspirations as an artist right now?

Just to stay in touch with who I think I am while trying to discover any sort of confines or "glass ceilings" that might exist in my creative mind. I'm not much of a careerist, but I do have aspirations that align with the idea of building a career in music.

What’s something about you that most people don’t know?

I guess you could say that I'm agnostic. Lol
