Welcome to BuzzMusic Young Rob! Can you tell us about the music scene in the UK?
Thanks for having me well, the UK music scene is in a very good place at the moment with some very amazing artists that are breaking through and making a name for themselves especially on the urban music scene. Who are some of your major influences for your unique sound? I'm quite a versatile artist. My influences come from different artists/genres of music like Hip-Hop, R&B, Afrobeat and other different genres of music. There are moments where I get inspired by different artists like Davido, Burna Boy, Chris Brown,2Pac, Jay-Z, and other great artists alike. What are some of the common themes in your songs, and in what ways does “Got That” differentiate itself from that? Most of the themes in my songs are mainly about love and feel-good vibes. Most people might call it sunshine music. I took "Got That" up a notch by having it strictly for a much more mature 18+ years of age demographic. Due to some of the lyrics. I wrote while maintaining the feel-good vibes to the song. How would you describe your songwriting approach to “Got That” any experiences helped you craft the lyrics to this song? My songwriting process differs from time to time. I could be listening to another artist's song and get inspired by a lyric they said. I sometimes write about things that I've seen happen in my own community or things that I go through personally in my own life. When a producer sends me a beat usually, the vibe that I get from that particular beat will determine the subject matter of that song. What was it like collaborating with Flexx Kapone on “Got That”? How did the idea of collaboration come about and what made you guys go with this concept?
Oh man, Flexx and I are both unique artists in our own way. It was cool collaborating with Flexx Kapone on "Got That". My man, Dillon Cash from Los Angeles, California who co-owns Colossal Music Group/Colossal Records hit me up about working with Flexx. I had this track in my music library for a while and I sent it over to Flexx. He killed it with a hot verse and the rest is history! What can we expect to see from you throughout 2020?
You're going to see/hear a lot about me this year! Got a few shows lined up and a whole lot of good music and videos on the way.
Listen to "Got That" here.
