Growing up in various Cincinnati neighborhoods, Adub Nati found solace and inspiration in the rap of artists whose narratives mirrored his own. Their authenticity and conscious lyrical approach ignited his own slumbering passion for storytelling, eventually becoming a catalyst for his own journey into music. I just have a natural feel honestly. I think of the feeling or vibe I want to be portrayed and plan accordingly. As someone with roots in both Houston and Cincinnati, how have these two cities—and your West Indian heritage—shaped the themes and sounds of More Fiyah? More so Cincinnati and my West Indian heritage, I would say, as opposed to my time in Houston as I moved to Cincinnati before I was two years old. But Cincinnati gave me an urban edge per se, and my West Indian heritage gave me knowledge and insight into my culture and my faith and how they relate to each other. You’ve mentioned finding inspiration in artists whose narratives mirrored your own. Can you share who some of these artists are and how their music influenced the direction of More Fiyah? Nas was a big one, probably the only one I can remember today. But beyond his message, I liked his flow and delivery and consider him, as well as others like him, to be a premiere hip-hop artist. At just 20 minutes long, More Fiyah makes a big impact in a short time. Was it a conscious choice to keep the album concise, and how did you approach crafting such a focused and purposeful project? Yeah, it was the beginning of my musical relationship with the artist/producer Planet MEalz, and I wanted to make a good impression on her as well as the fans without seeming too overbearing. But basically, as she sent me beats, I just went into my rhyme book and brainstormed on what would best match. What’s next for Adub Nati, and is there anything you’d like to say to your fans? Growing up in Kinshasa, I was immersed in the Congolese culture, and I also had the privilege of singing in a church choir, which introduced me to powerful gospel influences. These early experiences gave me a strong foundation in music, for real. When I moved to Montreal, I was introduced to a whole new world of R&B, Hip Hop, and other contemporary sounds. The combination of my Congolese roots, gospel background, and the diverse musical culture of Montreal allowed me to create a unique blend of Afrobeats, R&B, and Hip Hop. It’s a sound that reflects my heritage while embracing new horizons, and the gospel’s uplifting energy is always at the heart of it.   In  Chimbok , you use the term "chimbok" as a metaphor for escapism and resilience. Can you tell us more about how you developed this concept and what inspired the song's introspective yet hopeful message? "Chimbok" was born from a time in my life when I was in a dark place, feeling weighed down by challenges. The word "chimbok," which means "cigarette" in my native language, became a metaphor for seeking temporary relief—something to escape the momentary struggles. But even during those tough times, I always trusted in my power of transformation and resilience. I can always rise from the ashes like the Phoenix I am. The song reflects that inner strength—the belief that no matter how deep we fall, we can always rise again, find peace, and keep pushing forward with hope. "Chimbok" is about embracing our ability to escape, heal, and come out stronger.   You’ve described  Chimbok  as a song that offers connection and comfort to those navigating tough times. What do you hope listeners will feel or take away after hearing it, especially given its universal themes of transformation and hope? I want them to have fun and feel uplifted because even in difficult moments, joy and growth are always within reach.   Radio Intense called you “ the young mastermind who has a lot to offer.” With over 200K streams and growing recognition, how has your sound evolved since your single,  Body on Me , and what can fans expect from you in the near future? I've always loved my versatility when it comes to music, ngl haha! Experimenting with alter egos like Raja Debel or Da'Quan Corvonte, each representing different sides of my artistry. These fictional personas allow me to express a range of emotions and styles, offering innovation to my listeners. In the near future, they can expect... beautiful surprises! Maybe visuals, maybe Grammys here and there, and maybe an 'Entitled Uppity African. As I'm stepping into this new era of my life, of course, I wanna inspire but also reclaim the term 'uppity' that I know has a pejorative connotation. It's a way of accepting my African heritage and who I am and showing my people that we have the right to be who we are unapologetically! The journey is just beginning, and I’m excited to share what’s next!  Your music often feels deeply personal and vulnerable while maintaining a sense of strength and empowerment. How do you balance these elements in your songwriting, and how do they reflect your own journey as an artist and individual? I'd say my alter egos and music allow me to express emotions in a way that detaches me from reality through fictional stories we create. I balance vulnerability and strength by tapping into the raw emotions I experience, but not necessarily drawing from real-life events or people. Most of the time, my songs are inspired by emotions rather than specific situations, which gives me the freedom to craft a narrative that feels out of my inner reality. Was it challenging to strike that balance and bring it to life? Honestly, it’s not challenging at all when you’re following your emotions. Just boiled down to being real with myself. How do you hope this album connects with listeners who continue to push through in their daily lives? That the dark times are never taken for granted. It's always going to be bad shit that happens, but you gotta hold your frame, keep your swag, and remain you unapologetically!. Do you resonate more with one song on this project than the others? Could you please share some insight on that? I would have to say “Enemies” because, at the time of writing that song, my perspective on people changed drastically. The enemies exist, but they catapult you to the next level. What does your art mean to you? It means everything to me, and it’s who I am. It's all considered a memoir! If nobody were ever to listen, it would be just as priceless if the entire world did.

I think the song is true to my signature Feel-Good vibe. When one of my collaborators, producer Bibz, sent me the demo track, I was only going to use it as an album filler. Little did I know it would become my favorite song I have ever recorded! The instrumental demo made me smile and think about fresh love. I started to think about songs that reflected that feeling, and Selena's song "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom" came to mind! So, "Boom Boom (Goes My Heart)" came forth.  The music video is a neon-soaked, high-energy spectacle with you literally dancing in the clouds and on billboards. What was the creative vision behind this video, and how involved were you in shaping its concept? I wrote the storyline for it. I can't explain exactly I chose billboards, and urban setting, but I can tell you that the title inspired the giant boom-box! HAHAHAHHA! The music video is a product of my playful imagination. Your music often draws comparisons to the King of Pop and mixes a variety of genres. How do you balance incorporating nostalgia with keeping your sound fresh and relevant in today’s pop landscape? I can not take full credit for that. What I can tell you is that I choose to work with quality collaborators. Sometimes, that means I have to pay a little more for their work, but in the end, for me, it is about the quality of the sound. Hands down! My songs, before I consider them done, have to be three things for me: catchy, clean, and smart! The latter is always up to the person who listens but the rest I have a little more control over for sure!  In a world that can feel overwhelming, “Boom Boom (Goes My Heart)” radiates joy and positivity. How important is it for you as an artist to create music that lifts spirits and encourages people to live in the moment? There are very few things as healing as smiles and laughter. Even though some of my songs are not all about that, for sure I try to have an element of fun or a feel good vibe for most of my music. That, for me, is a must since life is too short! YOU HAVE TO ENJOY IT!   With your album  X Marks the Spot  and standout tracks like this one, you’re carving a unique space in the dance-pop genre. What do you hope listeners take away from your music, and where do you see your sound evolving in the future? I want people to smile when they think about my music and my sound. I want them to feel good! That's the end goal for me!
