What was the inspiration behind the music video for “Hey Yo Rodeo,” and what was your favorite part of bringing your vision for the music video to life? It’s about a girl looking for her cowboy and her journey to find that special someone. My favorite part about bringing my vision of a music video to life is the best. I like to call myself a visionary. Between myself, the producers, and the videographers, we make it happen. What inspired you to take that initial step to pursue music seriously, and what motivates you to make music now? My mother and father encouraged me and my fans to take the initial steps to start pursuing music seriously. My love of music and my amazing fans make my vision a reality. I love to entertain, inspire people in a positive light, and, most of all, make people smile. Remember, everyone deserves to be truly happy. What would you want it to be if your fans could take one thing away from your music? Something I want my fans to take away from my music is that I’m like no other artist out there. "Another Round" is pure, unfiltered energy – the tune that makes you want to roll down the windows, blast it on a road trip, or belt it out with friends after a few drinks. The inspiration comes from that magnetic kind of love that’s impossible to resist. We’ve all been there – drawn back to someone like a moth to a flame, even though you know it might burn. It’s intoxicating, irresistible, and just plain fun, precisely what we wanted to capture. It’s intoxicating to feel that way, so writing about going ‘another round’ with someone you just can’t get enough of made sense. How was it collaborating with James Downham again for "Another Round"? What did he bring to the table this time around? Working with James is always a blast. We both deeply love those big, sweeping melodies and tight harmonies that pull at your heartstrings. Our producer, Matt Koebel, helped us bring that vision to life, creating something nostalgic and fresh. We draw from various influences, from Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash to modern acts like Lady A and Little Big Town. Front Porch Music said,"’ Another Round’ echoes the sound of Lady A with its heartfelt lyrics and soulful harmonies.” Whether it's our first duet, "We’re Okay," or "Another Round," there’s always that anthemic chorus paired with storytelling that feels so true to who we are as artists. "Another Round" has a vivacious feel, perfect for summer. Can you talk about the process of capturing that mood in the studio? The energy in the studio was electric. James and I thrive off each other’s creativity and were on fire recording this track. We also just released the music video, which was a whole new level of fun! We shot it at The Bunker Performance Lounge in Stratford, Ontario, with Roadhouse Productions, which really captures the song's spirit. Congratulations on releasing your sophomore album,  Regal World . What inspired you to create this comprehensive, conceptual project? As a collective we’re heading into a new era and Regal Clu b wants to help lead the way. The inspiration come from living in our environment and expressing what we see. The experiences we have individually encountered that we know most go through.  The opening and title track, "Regal World," really sets the stage for your album. What inspired you to start the album this way, on such a thematic note? Once I made the beat I knew this would be the intro. We wanted it to feel like your starting a movie and this is the opening of the film. Wherever you are, once you press play, you’re taken into a different world. A new world, Regal World.  Your single "Left Field" from  Regal World  has been making waves. Can you share what the creative process was like for this track and why it resonates so strongly with listeners? Going into Regal World we knew we wanted to have features on it. CB was the perfect piece to add. The track is inspirational. A reminder that sometimes all you need is yourself. We are all on a journey and need tracks like this for motivation. Kinda like superhero theme music.  Who was the featured vocalist on a few tracks in the album  Regal World ? Why did you feel that your songs needed a warm, womanly touch? The vocalist is Mahryluh. We had these two hooks that we needed sung and we chose her. I love the naturalness in her voice. How strong yet soft it is. Her features are a fan favorite.  As your sophomore album,  Regal World  showcases incredible growth. How do you feel this album represents where you’re currently at as an artist and how you've evolved since your debut? This album shows the creativity and individuality that Regal Club possess. To feel out of place and irritated with fake people who smile in your face. To deal with people who want too much from you to the point you’re fed up. To show off, to shine your light correctly. To do things people don’t expect of you. To leave them all dumbfounded and in awe of you in the end. Can you walk us through the creative process for "DUMBFOUNDED"? Did you work alongside any producers to bring your vision to life? The song is produced by Anywaywell, who painted a vibrant picture with just the beat. I write almost daily, and I write each verse separately before even hearing the beat, but the hook and melody come instantly after the first listen. Then, I fit the verses in like Tetris and structured the writing a bit more to match the drum pattern. "DUMBFOUNDED" paints a vivid picture of feeling alone in a crowd. What sort of experiences or situations did you want to get across in your lyrics? I’m a little jaded because I’ve wasted time trying to build real connections with fake people. The ones who are always around for the parties but never really there for you. Some are friends, some are family, some are partners. I think most people know these types and can relate to wanting to get away from them. Maybe that’s the message of it all: Do your own thing. What was your favorite part about creating "DUMBFOUNDED"? What part of the process did you enjoy most? My favorite part was writing and recording. Once you get into a groove, and you’re just flying, whether it’s the wordplay coming in and flowing naturally, or when your voice cracks a little, or you capture a tone or melody that wasn’t planned. It’s all a magical and beautiful process, and I love it. What do you hope listeners take away from "DUMBFOUNDED"? What did you want them to think and feel after listening? I hope listeners can escape for a little bit. I’d love for them to just enjoy the ride and laugh or relate to the stories, and feel dumbfounded after, in a happy way.

What inspired you to write this song, and what personal experiences did you draw from? As an artist, I’ve always wanted to express my thoughts about the experiences that people of color and members of the LGBT community are still facing. As a Black Gay male of color avoiding the history of hate crimes in my community is impossible—me must face it, embrace it, and find ways to seek change. The school to prison pipeline affects our youth and their families, at times, face the burden of loss of their children either to the streets or the penal system.  As an independent artist, what has been the most challenging aspect of your music career, and how does this record reflect your journey? The most challenging aspect of my career has been finding myself and my voice through music. That journey took a lot of time. I didn’t know if I wanted to sing or rap, or do both. So I decided to experiment with them both, which I believe Brave really highlights.  This record is a blend of various genres, showcasing your versatility as an artist. How do you decide which genre elements to incorporate into your music? When I first heard the beat for Brave, which was produced by MannishEmotion—I connected with the sound immediately. The very sound invoked a sadness in me, but at the same time, it awakened another side of me that really brought both the lyrics and overall message to life. When I first pitched the track to Damen Heyward, a phenomenal vocal coach, singer/songwriter, and former member of Forced M.D.s, he wanted to work with me because he loved my lyricism and ability to express raw emotion from my words.   Your lyrics in "Brave" touch on overcoming challenges. What do you hope listeners take away from your story of resilience? I would like my listeners to continue to be brave in our world. Life is going to throw so much at us all, but we all must continue to work hard and become bigger and better versions of ourselves—and not let others tell us who we are and what we cannot be in life.  How does "Brave" fit into the larger narrative of your upcoming projects or your overall career? What can fans expect next from TYjAY? Brave is a project that is independent of some of my current music. Though it doesn’t fit the overall craft of my upcoming music and projects, it stands alone, and with an important message for so many people and artists to embrace. Currently, I am in the process of recording my debut album and releasing another single called “Attention,” which is available on all major music platforms. I am looking forward to this amazing project, and I can’t wait for you all to hear about it!

Led by Erik Åredal, Ginkgo Bugs is the end result of the pure, unadulterated love the members have for their craft. Polished and composed yet also equally likely to let loose, frontman Åredal’s decades of experience undoubtedly help drive Ginkgo Bugs’s captivating releases, with their fresh yet familiar takes earning them a loyal following in the scene today. Ginkgo Bugs was actually a conceptual group created by Åredal and his fellow musicians, complete with an entire backstory revolving around Lieutenant Bo Biloba & Crew. It’s a fun and creative twist on regular bands, and it’s this creative spirit that’s largely enabled Ginkgo Bugs to flourish and capture the imagination of listeners worldwide. Some things are simply meant to be, and although Åredal would take a long hiatus before the formation of Ginkgo Bugs, 2018 would see him make a welcome return. Releases that have garnered praise from outlets like Broadway World, Flex, and Obscure Sound followed, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store next. Ginkgo Bugs’s latest track, “AI Song (Made By Me)” is best described as an anthemic modern power-pop gem, blending nostalgic influences with a fresh perspective on modern problems.
