Swiss-based artist Jack Rush released his debut single “Wanna Fly” on June 16 for Rattler Records. Jack Rush wrote the music and lyrics and was co-produced by Swiss artist Tatum Rush (the artist's son) and Marcelo Bertozzo (Dodgy Affairs).
A lifelong musician in his mid-'60s, the self-described “Late Bloomer” has eclectic influences spanning from Neil Young to Beck to Blur, is breaking all the rules, and light-heartedly explained his relatively late start as a recording artist “Well, it's never too late, and I simply wasn't ready, and besides, who's going to dare tell me that I can't do it now?”
Jack describes the song's inspiration as “a moment I recently had of euphoric and introspective reverie on a tropical beach set to a feel-good groove.” As such, the tune has a fresh, optimistic, and seductive vibe vaguely reminiscent of the style of Mac Demarco, with a touch of Brazilian flavors in the rhythm.
