Welcome to Buzz, Drey! We love your latest release of "Where Do I Go." Can you please share the inspiration behind this and how it reflects your experiences?

Where do I go was an idea born out of frustration and feeling like I had no idea where I was supposed to be. The song deals with a recurring theme of asking if things will change and where I should go. This song is a culmination of the last few years of my life. I think that the older I get, the less sure I am of anything, really, and this song, I feel, reflects the question I am constantly asking.

With a background in classical music and self-taught guitar skills, how do these influences shape your unique sound? How has your sound evolved?

I would not be the musician I am today without having had that experience in the classical world. So much of how I write and sing is reflected by my time in my music program. I decided to learn guitar while writing so many songs so quickly that it seemed more reasonable to have an instrument that fit in my car. I didn't think it would stick, but most of my favorite songs have been written with just my guitar, my guitar, and a Logic file. My sound has matured, as have I. I will always love pop music; that is where my strengths lie.

"Where Do I Go" has a cinematic and theatrical quality. What led to this creative choice in the production of the song?

My favorite parts of any song are the parts that immerse you in a cinematic experience where you are the main character. I love string swells and any element that gives a song that magical touch. My husband is a master at adding that on a track, and we had a great time collaborating for the production.

Experience plays a huge role in songwriting. Could you please elaborate on how these moments shape the themes and narratives of your songs?

I think COVID was always what I thought about when writing this song. I had plans for a very different life pre-2019, and at times, it still feels like I'm navigating unknown waters. This song is also a great pep-talk for being afraid to go for something. Especially in the line, "Will I still feel this way?" I wanted it to come across as, of course, you will unless you change something.

What do you hope listeners take away from "Where Do I Go," and how does it contribute to the larger narrative of your musical journey?

I hope listeners take away that if they are feeling unsure, lost, or even discouraged, they are not alone, and I hope they can find comfort in that. This song is a great representation of my musical journey, as most of my new material deals with experiences everyone has throughout their twenties.
